I was looking for a place to stay on our visit to Sigulda and the area and on our way to Estonia and this hotel was a good choice.  

The hotel lobby and restaurant area is very nice, albeit a little old fashion…but that was part of the charm.   Front desk was very attentive, friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking in front of the hotel on the street.   And the price was very reasonable.

There is NO ELEVATOR (its an old hotel), but as I was struggling to take our heavy bags up the stairs, one of the hotel staff came up and asked to help.  And when I went to tip him, he refused to take it…but I insisted.     

The room was clean and nice, albeit a bit tight.  But we were there for only one night.  Bed was comfortable. Had a desk to work on and reasonable plug availability.   Wifi worked well enough but not perfect as it did come and go at times.   

Buffet in the main dining room could have been a bit better…but I gathered there were not a lot of guests at the hotel as part of the buffet was not filled (one of the warmers was empty and not being used).  Still had  sausage, great potato pancakes, what looked like a frittata (but it had been in the warmer too long as it was pretty dried out) some cold meats ,cheeses , hard oiled eggs, but only a few pastries.  

The restaurant was not open the night we were there, but they have a cafeteria and pizza parlor downstairs that was pretty busy...but it did not appeal to us.

Short walk to main part of town …but we did have trouble that night finding a place open …at 8pm!

While I felt it was an ok stay, keep in mind it is only a 3 star hotel and probably the best in town.  

Overall, for a one night stay in a small town, this was fine for us and I would recommend it to others.



Good place to Stay in the Area

We stayed two nights in this well renovated hotel in central Cesis and had a very comfortable room with all mod cons. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful checking bus times for us and arranging transfer to the bus station as we had too much luggage to be able to walk the short distance. The included breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and was well served. We can thoroughly recommend staying here as it is well situated for local sights including the famous castle.


Well situated comfortable hotel

It was our second stay at Cesis hotel and we quite liked it again. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable for sleep. Breakfast is also good for a small hotel. The location is great and the park is just gorgeous! 

I would be happy to come again.

Nice stay

Very clean, spacious room, beautiful view, comfortable bed. Welcome, great location and parking right in front of the hotel. Breakfast on the outdoor terrace with beautiful park views.

Very poor breakfast, small selection. If there was a salad at the start of breakfast, it was eaten and the bowl was not replenished. Same with buns. Basically there were 2 cheeses, an omelette, sausages, a cucumber and tomatoes. The coffee machine was brought only around 9 o'clock. The girl who removed the dishes was very unhappy.

As well as a specific number for the wishes, I received in the reply that the wish will be fulfilled, but the number was given to another. Trifle, but sad, cuz they promised.

We stayed here for one night when we were on our way south. We cannot comment on the breakfast or any other things except for the check in and the hotel room and solely used this hotel to sleep there for one night. 

Check in was easy and quick. Staff was nice. 

The room we had (probably most simple option) was quite small and if you have a lot of luggage it is not easy to fit and e.g. open a bag. Otherwise it is fine - bed was quite comfortable. 

Overall I personally would not stay here to have a nice time in a hotel but then again that town does not feel like it attracts a lot of tourists that come to this place specifically and that people would more be staying there because it is on the way or bc they are visiting someone there. For that purpose I find this hotel pretty good. 

Good for an intermediate stop

This hotel has so much going for it: friendy, easy-going staff, lovely building, great location, stylish rooms ... but it is badly let down by a cheap, limited, grim breakfast that is entirely out of character with the rest of the place (think solidified porridge and stale-tasting rolls put to better use feeding the local ducks).

For that reason, we were sceptical of the in-house restaurant and did not try it. The pizzeria-cum-cafe downstairs is a nice, cozy place for a drink.

Sound (TVs, snoring) also appears to travel easily between rooms, so be aware of that if you are not a deep sleeper.

Tip: there is a good supermarket called "Top!" just around the corner on Raunas iela, where we got pastries etc. each night as a 'back-up' for the next morning's breakfast.

Fix the breakfast and it could be great!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cēsis. Perfect location, very helpful staff and I thought the breakfast was fine. We also enjoyed our dinner at the hotel restaurant. Our room was very clean and comfortable.

Nice Hotel

Freshly and with taste renovated ro
oms  and location are only advantages. Sunday breakfast  - less than average 3 star level - with very limited choise, for example there were not available soft boiled eggs, and the selection is not replenished. Watery coffee.

Place, where I will not return

+ newly renovated rooms on the third floor.  Comfortable beds.
- wifi on the third floor does not work.
Poor breakfast, though it is until 11 on Sundays, ar 10 when we came, the table was almost empty and was not restored.

Overnight stay after the concert

This historic hotel has three floors without an elevator, so if mobility is an issue, you’ll need to take a pass. The hotel has lots of character. Our room is small, though everything (including our two medium sized suitcases) fit. The room is clean and the bathroom has been nicely updated and is a medium size. Front desk and porter were very helpful. The hotel has a very good location, being a short distance to the castle, restaurants and bars.
