Have to say that the visit to this guesthouse is always a pleasant experience. The atmosphere and energy is good. What defines the hotel is about how has been the history of the property. Even some expensive places may have surprisingly ghostly tunes but here those kind of frequencies fortunately cannot be found. Rooms are spacy. Prices are not ripped off. And what often a traveller searches after the heavy burdenous day is a shower and if it is a hot shower it accordingly works and is not slow about the water speeds {can be found here}. No more unpredictable boiler boxes that may be quite a chill dripping feeling without the actual hose power. Then worth to mention is that rooms are clean also. Laundry smells same as the early summer breeze. Anyway, definitely, recommendable for someone searching for a peaceful venue for the holiday.

It was one of the cheaper places we could find but a local friend of mine told me there were equally cheap places in more central areas of town. Although I still doubt this, I might be worth just checking one last time if you can find some place more centrally located. Apart from location which I found a drawback, it was not really a guesthouse with a proper reception desk. It felt like we were in some kind of homestay as it was not a very professionally run business but moreover a family-run placce with some rooms for rent. We did not see any other guests, nor were we able to really communicate with the staff/family. Out of all my travels this place holds the record of least interaction with staff as language was the main barrier as well as the set-up of the whole place (as said no reception. You just take the outside staircase to your room at the back of the building (in our case at least). Positives: clean room, really large, ok enough bathroom with warm water, quiet location, price (however we might have overlooked some deals more downtown). 

Felt like a homestay without the interaction part

We went all the two kilometers from town because of the good rating at TA. When we finally found the guesthouse there was no reception and it seemed like they're irritated that someone wants to sleep there. They showed as a basic and quite big room but everything was not that clean, sheets are stained and bed is very very hard. Floor was dirty and the guesthouse itself not in a good condition so we decided to walk back all the way. That's not a good guesthouse at all. 

Just no! 

This hotel has been given 3 out of 5 mainly because of the cheap price for a room. There's not a great deal to do in Vientiane, so my partner and I didnt want to pay for an expensive room like most of those offered elsewhere in the city.

This hotel is dated and basic, but clean. I'm not sure if the family who run the hotel speak any languages other Laotian, although one of the girls did have a decent grasp of English. The family seemed very nice in any case.

The room we stayed in was quite large and came with air conditioning and a tv (with a few channels in English, including American shows, movies and news and the BBC World Service). We appreciated the entertainment after a day of exploring Vientiane on foot.

The bed was quite hard, but clean. There was a open wardrobe with a hanging rail, but only one hanger.  There were a couple of tables to put things on.

The bathroom was again dated, but clean and the the shower provided hot water and good pressure. The toilet seemed quite new and was clean and flushed well.

WiFi was available, but only near where the family lived at the front of the hotel.

We were provided with two small bottles of water in the room, but the family also refilled  our own larger bottle with water from their own supply (bottled, not tap).

The hotel is about 2.5 km from the centre of town where cafés and restaurants and other hotels are.  It's about 1km from the COPE centre, which was our favourite 'attraction' in Vientiane. We enjoyed walking into town, so the distance wasn't a problem for us. We also felt pretty safe doing so. However, we used gps navigation to get around. We couldn't find any detailed maps for Laos on Google Maps or on our Windows phones pre-installed map apps, but luckily found another app (MapFactor). Before we got to Laos we also took a screeenshot of the map provided by Tripadvisor which came in use as the drivers at the taxi firm at the airport didnt really know where the hotel was. I've added a map to the the photos. Its the map with a black background and has a chequered flag to show the location of the hotel. 

The hotel is situated between two main roads.     Rue Thadeua (Thadeua road) becomes Rue Samsenethai and leads to the centre of town. It has several places to eat especially if you're happy to eat street food as we were. There are several little shops for drinks and snacks, too. Boulevard Khouvieng (Khou vieng) leads the COPE Centre, though there aren't any real signs to it so keep a look out for the entrance sign. COPE is quite close to a roundabout.  Khouvieng has many clothes stores and a place that does fantastic deep fried chicken and chips (fries). 

We only stayed a couple of nights at this hotel before leaving the city and were comfortable enough. We'd recommend this hotel if you need somewhere to stay in Vientiane that was really cheap, in a quiet area, if you're prepare yo walk into town and if you aren't that fussy about decor

Ok for cheap stay

What a great place after not having tv for about a year what treat.  The aircon, the big room to do yoga in my own bathroom wow.  Renting a bike was a great way to visit the city plus the guest house is only a nice walk away.  Try the Italian restaurant near the guest house, very good.

Souksavanh peace in the city

If you like the simple things in life, this place is just that. The place is dated but more than makes up for it with large spacious rooms. Wifi is weak and you'll need to come out to the courtyard to get access. It's a great find if you are watching your budget and still want to enjoy Vientiane!

Quiet out of the way place...

Well from my opinion, it is the cleanest, cheapest guesthouse with best customer service i ever stay in Vientiane! One night cost only USD$14.05. Clean and spacious room enough for two people to stay with all the necessary stuffs provided(hanger, tower, drinks,etc.) WiFi is not strong in the room and so advisable to travelers to use at the lobby for strong WIFI signal.

The location is near to the city central and Mekong river and can be reach by tuk-tuk transportation which is just outside the guesthouse. The transport cost for one trip will be range from USD$2 to USD$5, depend on the distance and also your bargain ability.

I will recommend a few must go attraction for those who first come to Vientiane. Starting from the nearest to the guesthouse will be Wat Si Muang temple which is popular among the local. Next, will be Khua Din Market or the morning market which u can find exotic foods, e.g. egg with half-born chick inside... and if you think it is too much for you can go check out the shopping mall just beside the market. Interested in the history of Lao? Check out the Lao National Museum which will satisfy your curiosity but remember it require entrance fee which cost around USD $3. Want to see the city from a height building? Patuxay Monument is your idea tourist's destination which is a historical building for tourists photo taking but with entrance fee of USD$3. The final destination will be the Pha That Luang where the majestic golden temples are build and events were held. 

These are the few must go destination when you stay at Vientiane but of course there are more which i never mention. The staffs were very friendly and they willingly to recommend you places to see and foods to try. So I will definitely come back to this warm-heartening and affordable place.
