I come to Malida more or less every time I go to Luang Prabang, whether it is for business or for pleasure it is always my choice. Friendly and service minded owners are excellent. Rooms are very nice and newly renovated. Comfort is more like a hotel than a guesthouse. Everything is unusually neat and clean at Malida!
Simple breakfast is included, but if one wants something else, many options are available a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
Close to the absolute center and quiet at night, I recommend the Malida to anyone who do not want to pay top dollars for accommodation but still enjoys some standard.

A gem to a great price!

So nice place, newly renovated and kept very clean and neat!
Owners are extremely helpful and accommodating. They are serving a simple breakfast, but since it is located a 5-minute walk from the absolute center, you can choose to eat wherever you like. I have stayed here many times and am always coming back!
A home away from home!

Absolutely lovely!

Omg this hotel was incredible. We were with a group of 18 and were staying 2 nights. Check in went very smooth. The owners/workers were absolute Gems! Staff was so friendly and helpful. You have to take your shoes off at the front door or you can take them off and put them on the inside shoe rack. Which I really liked. It also probably help keep there stunning wooden floor looking so darn good. The whole place was so clean it sparkled. We were on the second floor. It has this really cool looking stair case. Our room was a really good size. My mother and father in laws room was a bit smaller but still stunning. The bathrooms were incredible and looked to have recently been reno'ed. The shower always had hot water. It was the first hotel room that I didn't get any bug bits from. They did not have a funny mouldy smell. I don't believe this place had ac but it did have a ceiling fan that did the job (Im a night sweater). Wifi was free and worked really good. There was a mini fridge with water in it. 

They served a really good breakfast out of the smallest kitchen eve. It is the only meal they sever but there is a convenient store across the street for snacks and local  & international restaurants around every corner.  It was in a good very quiet location.  Lots of things were in walking distance. If not the front desk would order you a tub tuk.

They will arrange laundry to be picked up and sent out. It did take about 24 hours. So if you are going to the Kuang Si Fall the next day maybe don't send your swim suit to be washed.

The Guest house is family owned with dark wood accent and absolutely clean. Foot wear needs to be left outside. 
Rooms are not very large, queen size beds which were comfy. Cable TV, mini fridge and air conditioning worked well. Bathrooms were a bit dimly lit but modern with excellent water pressure and hot water. They need to have more bath soaps.

Wifi worked well. Breakfast was a bit basic with no fresh juice. Price was a bit on the higher side but most guest houses in Luang Prabang which were clean and decent were in the same price range. It is a 10-12min walk to the night market and river

Clean and Comfy Guesthouse in a quiet area

Not too far to the main part of town, clean comfortable enough, with a simple cooked breakfast. Air con and fans.
A few doors down the road is the Muangthong Hotel, which was offering use of their pool (with a snack and drink) for US$7. It was worth it on a hot afternoon.

Reasonable budget accommodation

We stay just overnight at Malida Guesthouse and would return without hesitation.  While exploring Luang Prabang on our first day we discovered this lovely, friendly guesthouse when we needed some directions.  They were so happy to help it made us want to investigate further.  When we needed one more night in the city we jumped at the chance to stay.  Great location, accomodation and staff! 

Helpful and Beautiful

The Malida Guesthouse has actually been renovated since some of these pictures were taken.  It has been modernised throughout and is a really comfortable and pleasant little guest house to stay in.  The owner is lovely and all the staff very friendly.
It is in a great location for walking to the night market and Mt Phou Si.  Luang Prabang is so small that really you can walk anywhere from the guest house, even Wat Xieng Thong too and the park overlooking the Mekong.   

It was clean, comfortable and the WIFI was reliable. The only thing to note is that breakfast is really basic, eggs, bread and fruit daily.  However given that there are so many lovely coffee shops and bakery's in Luang Prabang, it just gives you an excuse to have a late morning stop. 

The guest house is also on the route for monk's receiving alms and it is wonderful to get up rearly and watch the sea of saffron walk past. 

I loved Luang Prabang and would happily recommend this little guest house.  It is great value for money and one of the best guest houses I have stayed at in Laos.

Cute little guesthouse

The guesthouse is very clean and nicely decorated. It is located within a short walk from the Main Street. There is rooster waking you up every morning. I didn’t mind it because I stayed only 2 nights.

When I arrived i asked how much is the price per night and the lady showing me to my room said she doesn’t know which I found strange. The only downside I have is that when I arrived they charged me double then what was advertised. I showed them screenshot showing that the price listed on Tripadvisor  is $17 per night. They pretended to either not hear or understand and charged me $30 per night. Not a deal breaker but seemed misleading to charge more.

Beautiful decor and clean

This is one of the best designed guest houses, I have stayed in. And I spend about 3 months each year in hotels. It has a fairly minimal design, with the rooms having slightly different details. A couple of the rooms also have a balcony. My favourite part was the modern, dark wood, bathroom. Mine had a brand new 2 headed shower. 

A simple breakfast is on offer every morning, on the front patio. Tea and coffee is available for free, throughout the day, from the front reception. 

The two owners, Vong and Oud, made me feel very welcome. Vong speaks, English and French to a very higher level, as well as having an understanding of other languages. 

Prices can be obtained for around $35 U.S. outside of the peak season.

I loved this place, but I want to mention that is is prone to a bit of noise, if you're booked in on the same night as a Chinese tour group. 

Very highly recommended. 

Beautiful decor and immaculately clean 

Great location along the monk's morning alms round and not far from Phou Si hill and the night market. Luang Prabang is a beautiful, special place and this charming guesthouse is a great base camp for exploring it. Get ready to relax and unwind because nothing happens fast in Laos. It's wonderful.
