The best thing here is the location! Just next to the river and still close to the city. The dorm room is also good but only one toilet/shower for 10 people is not too much. But for the price (we gave 45000 for one dorm bed) its nice.

A fine choice

This would have been a 5 star rating, given how nice the rooms are, great location, comfy beds, hot showers, super nice & helpful staff, decent wifi, good facilities. We booked a private room and it's very nice and would have been worth the cost of not for the noise. 

I'm even tempted to give it 2 stars as we paid double the price for our private room here than for other guest houses, and yet we had the worst sleeps! There's kids and parents alike yelling at each other across the sitting area right outside the private rooms in the morning, and people come together to play some songs in the evening, which was nice except for the extremely loud drummer who played regardless if anyone else played. There are signs saying quiet time after 11pm so why was he still drumming at that point? I'm pretty sure the children and the musicians are all part of the family that lives here too... I didn't spend this much money to not even be able to sleep. 

Nice but Noisy 

This place is ok if you're young and don't mind noise from the rooms next door or downstairs. The walls are thin. The rooms are basic and the bathroom was the usual basic one. The owners are quite helpful and the location is central and there is a great place for rice soup breakfast next door. There are double rooms and dorms suitable for anyone's budget.

Ok but nothing special

Be warned. My girlfriend and I rented a room here last night and were awoken at 1AM by DOZENS of bed bugs crawling all over us. We had to evacuate the room of our things, and tromp through the streets looking for another place to stay, which, despite the Chinese New Year throng, we luckily found. We have spent the entire morning undoing all of our bags, putting every piece of clothing into the laundry, and fumigating everything else with some permethrin spray we located at the market. I wouldn't stay here if someone paid me. Stay far, far, far away.

BEDBUGS WARNING

My stay in the dorm of Joy Guesthouse was awful!! I realized that there are many bugs in the beds, just impossible to sleep!!!! Moreover, I wanted to make a small change in my booking, and the staff denied in such an unfriendly manner. My worst experience during my last 4 months in Asia!! Go away!!!!
