Sopha House

I believe they only have five rooms. I got Room No.1 upstairs and it was simply huge, with a sitting area, TV, fridge, large bathroom, shared outside veranda. Bamboo finish on interior walls. Maybe I got lucky, the ground floor rooms looked fine however not as nice. 

Owners were friendly however English is not well understood.

Reserved the room via Bookings.Com and at US $20 all-in it was a complete bargain  given the perfect town location.

Great budget stay huge upstairs room

Though I was supposed to stay here for a few nights, I left after 1. On arrival, I seemed to be more of an inconvenience to the guy at reception rather than welcomed and despite booking online and receiving confirmation, he had no clue I was arriving. The ground floor double room me and my friend were staying in was nice but the toilet was blocked when we arrived and again the man seemed to think we'd done it - even though we'd barely walked through the door.  Overall, they were just v.unpleasant and rude.

Otherwise, it's in a lovely location next to the river and the bamboo bridge.  It's also very close to the town and all the main restaurants.

Rude Staff, Nice Room / Location

The location is great by the river . It has an old world charm . The stairs to upstairs are very narrow and steep and somewhat dangerous . The room was clean and big but had a single basic lock so I felt it was not safe . There was no were to store valuables . The bathroom is old and run down and didn’t feel clean . The beds were big but uncomfortable .  No one manned the guest house and the maid didn’t speak any English and the rooms were not cleaned or towels changed . I wanted to pay for one week then another week but that fell apart as the owner couldn’t meet to take payments . There was ambiguity about method of payments . I found many other choices around this guesthouse which were much better and organised . This place needs a lot of organisational input and some basic renovations . I left the guest house early to another as I had 10 more days . 

A lot of potential but needs work 

When we arrived later in the evening we were treated and taken down the street to another guesthouse that had none of the amenities we booked this hotel for. No tv, no air conditioning, no wifi. The room was dingy and gross the washroom was full of cobwebs. When we asked why we weren't in the actual guesthouse we were told that they had no rooms in the Sopha House. We still had to pay full price for the other room and the next morning we asked if we would be changed rooms, they said no so we grabbed our stuff and booked another cheaper place on the strip with everything we wanted nicer staff and better room. Not worth the risk! Book elsewhere.

Awful. 

No service for 7 days, no hot water, toilet seat broken. Despite repeated attempts to get things repaired nothing was done. Room was small, typical Asian hard mattress. WiFi was good and a 5 minute walk to night markets were the only plus for this place.
