Great location and peaceful, comfortable room. Reasonable price too - although had to barter as the price stated on arrival was different to the price shown online, but this was resolved. Also sorted transfers to next city, which went seamlessly. Would certainly recommend.

Great!

We booked on the guest. It was chinese new year so every guest was more expensive than it uses to. Finally we get Villa Alpha for 140’000 kip per day, more than the usual price, which is 110’000. The owner looks friendly but next day we go and he doesnt remember us and start asking for money again. We have a receipt so it’s not a problem but starts to be strange. The room is clean but the toilet smells humidity. When he showed the room to us the day before it was quiet but at 7am in the morning, while we were sleeping, the stuff (we think it is a family that owns the guest) starts speaking very loud so we wake up. At 1pm we go guest to avoid the hot hours and they put the radio so loud that it is impossible to be quite on the room. Not good to give them the laundry, they give bad price, and so we start to not rely the stuff and we dont book bus with them to go Vientiane because of this. Wouldnt recommend this place, would not go back.

Bad stuff

The owner of this hostel is a dreadful man who will rip you off. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. That's a lesson learned! In short, the room was grimy, across the street from a loud bar, and the vibe was the most unfriendly I have ever experienced. The man deliberately ripped us off an agreed price and pretended like he could not speak English when we argued with him. He also follows you around trying to sell overpriced trips. There tv for the family blares all day. Apparently he locks you in at night. Revolting behaviour, bad rooms, will make you feel very unwelcome and unhappy. Many other places in Luang Prabang! Do not stay here. 

Worst Experience Yet

Travelling Asia for six months now. Have NEVER had a bad experience like this. 

We booked through booking.com and upon arrival the owner tried to rip us off saying he did not have our booking and the rate would be much higher than our booking stated. After back and forth for about an hour he finally agreed that we were right (only when we said we would go somewhere else). 

Every day we were harassed to book tours and bus trips through him. He never acknowledged us or smiled back at us unless he was hassling us to pay him money. When we said we would think about a tour he would scream at us "PAY NOW PAY NOW" . This went on for literally three days until we booked with him. 

If you care about wifi.. do not stay here. It does not work. He also locks you in the house at night. This is not an over exaggeration. I am not sure what would happen in case of emergency but at 11:00pm he locks the front doors from the outside and behind that locks the gate. My boyfriend was very ill one night and i was not "aloud" to leave to get him water. The gates also do not open until 6:00 am.. I tried going for a walk at 5:30 this morning before our bus left and was once again locked in and not aloud out. 

To top off this horrifying experience. About an hour after check out I received an e-mail from booking.com stating that I had been a no show and they would charge me the three nights accommodation. The three nights that he swore were not reserved and I had paid him in cash! 

Such an awful experience. Please do not stay here and support this awful man running it.

Pre booked and paid for our stay online. When we went to check in the owner tried to scam us saying that we hadnt booked or paid. We finally convinced him that we had paid but he kept asking us how much we paid in US currentcy as opposed to KIP even tho were australian. He then again said we dont have a booking. I grabbed his little booking pad and there were our names written on it saying 'paid through agoda'. He tried to play the "dont speak english card" stayed for 3days. Every morning he was trying to sell tours to us. We kept saying no and he kept saying yes. Needed to book a bus. we saw a sign saying 80,000kip and when we went ask him he said "150,000kip" we said the sign says 80,000kip. Then he played the dumb card like he was thinking of a diffrent bus. Didnt book because he was trying to scam us. He always wanted us to leave our key at the desk when we went out. When we came back we felt like our bags had been looked through. Would never go back.
