The hotel is right Infront of the night market area, Good price, Basic room, but much better compare to the other 2 guesthouses we stayed before this one (very poor maintenance).
Will come here again for next trip!

Good location and city view...

This is the main hotel in Luang Namtha, right in the middle of town on the main road. It is very cheap and quite comfortable. Room is nothing spectacular and the bathroom basic but it is clean, water was hot and air con cold. Wifi worked but no English TV, with the hotel mainly seeing visitors from China. Recommended for the price with great cafe next door.

Basic but cheap and comfortable 

Payed for 1 night ,but left and did not stay .It was very dirty ,cockroaches running around ,staff just didnt give a damn and still made us pay . but i have to say it did us a favour as we went across the street to zuela guesthouse what a great place ........

Bad Place

We had a hard time finding a place to stay in Luang Namtha, mostly because of the bathrooms. The VIP rooms at Dokchampa have a bathtub, which was the deciding factor.
The hotel is at a great location, our tours started a block away, we rented a motorbike just opposite. Shops and restaurants are all around the hotel and the rather small and uninteresting night market again a block away.
The room (303 on the 3rd floor – the hotel has an elevator) had a new LCD TV and a rather new bathtub. Everything else was old. The armchairs, the chair and the outer blanket had clearly visible stains. There was a dirty piece of cloth on the floor, that I could not identify. The bathroom door was dirty, looked like it has never been dusted off. The sink leaked and there was always water behind the toilet bowl (well, we hoped it was water). There were also stains on the wall. With all this I rate the cleanliness of the room as a fail.
Noise coming in from the floor and from other rooms (above?) was clearly audible and disturbing. Our room looked to the back, so noise from outside was not a factor.
One evening I’ve noticed cigarette smoke coming into the room. I went to the floor and found a man smoking there. When I asked him not to smoke in front of our room, he said that he had asked some hotel staff and was allowed to. (There was a warning in the room, that smoking in the room will incur a 100000 kip fine.)
The window had a mobile mosquito net, but there were still mosquitoes in the room. However on the first day of our trip (in Malaysia) we’ve bought an electronic repellent (10 mats for 10 nights costed less than USD1) which solved the problem for us at quite some accommodations.
There is no safe box in the room.
The room has an air conditioner. However when I wanted to switch it on (for heating on a rather cold February night) I noticed, that the remote control was not in the room. So we used the additional blanket, provided in the cupboard, again with big stains. (I could put it on top of the other blanket in a way, that we had no direct skin contact with it…)
Should I come back to Luang Namtha, I’ll rather arrive without a reservation, but not book this hotel again. I gave this hotel a 2 rating, because if this was the only place with a free room, I’d still take it.

Not A Good Hotel (And We Had The VIP Room)

We stayed here for 3 nights with a 3 day trek in between. The room was spacious and clean and had tea and coffee facilities, shampoo, toothbrushes and combs, drinking water, tv and a fan and AC. However we didn't need to use these as it was fairly cool in the evening. We needed to get the spare cover out which is in the wardrobe. 
We were on the 4th floor at the back of the building and the view looks over the mountains and jungles in the horizon. 
The staff were very friendly and helped us with laundry requests which we needed after our trek. Our room was cleaned with fresh towels and more tea, coffee and water. 
A good price at 100,000kip for a double room per night. On the Main Street for the town and a very short walk to nice restaurants, bike/scooter hire, activity booking offices and the night market.

Good comfortable stay, good location!

Dokchampa Hotel Luang Namtha. Good basic Lao hotel at Luang Namtha. Clean basic rooms. Safe parking for motorbikes at backyard. Near night market, about 5minutes walk. Small supermarket near hotel. One bar near hotel. Quite good value, rooms were cheap.

Title says it all. We were not expecting much but found it very grim and noisy. One morning after trekking, we were woken up quite early and the maid forced herself into the room past me. She started shouting when I asked her to leave as we were checking out that afternoon. They are very loud when cleaning the other rooms so don't expect a sleep in. We are currently staying in another guesthouse at Luang Namtha which is nearly half the price and much better. However they kept are bags for us when we went on a 2 day trek.
