Bellevue Bungalows

Our tuktuk from the bus station dropped us off on the Luang Prabang side of the “Old Bridge”and we walked across. The centre part of the bridge is for bikes and there is a walkway on either “outside”part. Coming from LP, the right hand side is better maintained, on the left hand side there are several “planks”that are no longer connected… Bellvue is easy to find, just after the bridge is a small lane, and there’s a Bellvue Guesthouse sign on the left hand side, the guesthouse is through the white gate that faces you after about 25 meters. Don’t take the condition of the gate as an indication of the bungalows. We took room 204 – there are bungalows in the garden and there’s also a building at the front of the site with four rooms (two up and two down), ours was one of the top units. Clad in wood, spacious, with AC and a fan and a private bathroom. There was a seating area on the deck also with a line for hanging clothes to dry. We paid US$56 for three nights through Agoda. When we arrived we were quoted the same price as online. The bathroom was great, a good decent pressure hot electric shower in it’s own area with a drain in the same area. Western toilet and sink unit. Towel rail in a sensible place. The bed was large and comfortable, small table unit and stool and a separate table for bags. Three large hooks on the wall for hanging things. The AC was pretty useless, if it managed to keep most of the heat out of the room that was the best it could do. The fan was necessary most of the time as well. Breakfast was provided – a choice of drinks and egg (omlett, scrambled egg or fried eggs) and baguette and jam and butter plus fruit. Bread was served warm and the eggs were done well. Wifi was available in the breakfast area and in room 204 and was consistent but not fast. Staff are friendly, the cute ball of fur puppy is a bonus. The only issue was slightly iffy air con.
