Sala Xangkeo Hotel

Stayed two nights with an organised group. All seemed pretty happy with this hotel. Rooms are a good size and nicely appointed. Attention to maintenance was lacking with minor faults like malfunctioning shower doors, poor shower drainage spreading water across the bathroom floor and similar annoying details. One couple in the group had their room power fail and had to change rooms as the problem could not be fixed. Lack of hanging space also a problem especially when wanting to dry clothes dripping with persperation. On the plus side, rooms are cool, clean and and comfortable to be in after the oppressive heat and humidity outside. Staff are lovely although with limited English but we managed to communicate with hand gestures and good humour. Breakfast by the Mekong was an experience and the food good but get there early as there is no refrigeration for foodstuffs and the temperature rises quickly. A good hotel to stay in, keeping in mind the limitations of a still developing tourist, rather than just backpacker, infrastructure.
