Long Island Guesthouse

Planned to stay 1 night, stayed 3 nights. The family which owns this place is very friendly, they offer free pick up from the main city. Easy to reach by long boot, berth of Don Khon only few minutes walk (free bridge crossing) Owner can arrange bicycles, tours, boot trips to main land for you. We stayed in a bungalow with A/C (is not yet Agoda), amazing view from balcony, clean and lots of space. Swimming pool is perfect to relax. The price of the room is really worth it! You have to check out this place you self!

We ended up staying for 5 days here as it was so relaxing. It is on a lovely spot at the end of the southern Don Det strip so there are no other places nearby and it's very quiet. You can still walk to other restaurants and easily go over the bridge to Don Khone.

The place was clearly being done up while we were there and it appears they are trying to modernise. There is already a great pool area and one modern bungalow, however the restaurant is half finished and there is a bit of construction going on (this wasn't intrusive). We had an old bungalow which was a bit shabby and unclean but ultimately comfortable and a great place to sit on the balcony watching the world go by. 

Kam the owner is lovely and will help with anything you need. The restaurant food was nice but a bit pricier than other restaurants nearby. We turned up without a booking and could negotiate a bit so it turned out to be good value, especially considering the pool.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. We wish Kam the best with his future plans.

Excellent! Clean rooms, frienly family, Nice view from bungalow

Relaxing stay, great location

It was great to see how laid back laos folk can be; a great inspiration and us westerners could learn a lesson or two from them. However, waiting over an hour for food and drinks can get tedious after a couple of days.  

Another annoyance was the water. It came direct from the Mekong so showering, although refreshing wasn't the most pleasant way to perform ablutions. The supply kept being switched off so we were frequently asking for it to be switched back on which they did quickly.

Rooms were basic but did the job. Hard beds with mozzie nets and fans. 

If you can cope with this, the pool is an absolute humidity buster. Our kids spent ages in the pool. It was worth the higher room rate. 

Staff were mostly friendly and it was great to see their gorgeous kids running around. They added to the family atmosphere.

Mmmh....

Asked if I could enter the swimming pool for free if I bought a drink. Got a yes, and bought a drink, when I was going to leave they told me that I needed to pay 25 000 for entrance, in addition to my drink. The pool was also quite dirty, but they provide you with a towel.

We were very surprised with the gap between guest comments and the real thing.

The staff. Is extremely pleasant and willing to help. The swimming pool is large and the surrounding is pleasant. But is it clean ? I am not convinced...

But we had à bid déception with the bungalows : the room is worth 1/2 the price charged.

The place is shabby and need a complete renovation to be nice.
