Guest House Tien Shan

This new guesthouse is situated away from the centre of Bishkek in a residential area. A taxi costs a couple of dollars into town taking about 10 minutes depending on traffic. The staff at the guesthouse, especially Natalie are pleasant and work hard . The rooms are simply furnished and have a tv with Russian and Kyrgyz channels and a fridge. There is plenty of storage space and useful shelving in the bathroom. There is lots of hot water and strong showers. Wifi is available throughout although at times it is quite weak. There is a small buffet breakfast with a couple of cereals, yoghurt, cheese, meats, tomatoes and cucumber, and fresh strawberries. Either omelette or porridge is offered too along with fresh coffee. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the dining room at all times . Outside is a small patio area with seating. A 24 hour supermarket is a 5 minute walk away and the guesthouse owners do not mind you bringing in food to eat in the dining room, they also will order pizzas for you. There is definitely room for improvement however on our two night stay the room was not serviced, there was only one toilet roll and the towels were quite small. Servicing of rooms is expected really, and the bins should be emptied and the toilet rolls replenished. As a guesthouse I would grade it good rather than very good but better than average.
