Very nice place with comfortable houses, good food, beautiful nature, friendly staff. Highly recommend to visit this place, have a picnic or just walk in the mountains. My son likes to go horse riding and to be playing on a swing.

Perfect weekend

The place offers a great spot with a fantastic idea to have activities gathered on one location in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, on a low altitude, we did horse riding, shooting, playing in the prairies. However service needs considerable improvement and the staff needs more training.

Great place but service needs a big deal of improvement.

Kara Bulak is quite secluded to get too - there is a lot of bumpy winding road that goes high up into the hills (don't look down) but once you are there it is worth it. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with a double bed, plus a single bed. Beautiful bathroom and under floor heating. The glass roof to see the stars and night sky was not clean enough to see the sky. The price includes full board as you are so secluded you can not pop to a local restaurant for food. All meals were plentiful and delicious and often included 2/3 courses, bread, tea and sometimes a juice drink. Bring your own alcohol if you intend to drink. We even requested one lunchtime the food be brought to our balcony to enjoy, instead of sitting in the restaurant. The staff are so helpful but keep in mind I needed google translate app to communicate with most of them as I only speak English. The Sauna experience was brilliant! we had a late night 11pm session and paid for additional hot baths - you can choose from two different scents for the herbal baths. The next day we enjoyed the baths so much we paid for 1 herbal bath without the use of the sauna. We also did a guided horse ride to the panoramic view which was brilliant.
We even decided it would be a brilliant wedding venue! 13 rooms available for guests, a large dining area and field space for wedding festivities would be ideal. I would definitely recommend.

Ideal secluded resort! exceeded expectations

After some hot days in Bishkek I was very happy to spent some quality time at Kara Bulak Resort. It’s only a 50 min drive away from the capital but lies in a beautiful, remote and hilly landscape! The guesthouses and whole resort is eco-based and decoration and materials reflect Kyrgyzstans uniqueness! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I especially enjoyed the Banya, the whole area is really beautiful and this experience was not only very healthy but also relaxing! As for activities you can do some walks in the nature or do it on the back of a horse :)! I totally recommend this place!

Beautiful Eco-Resort in short distance of Bishkek

We were looking for a place to have a rest from the city and we have not been disappointed. The manager and her staff were very friendly and hospitable. The food was good, even if we could not choose from the menu - we understood that was because it was not yet the high season. The room was very comfortably and well heated - however adding a mini-bar would be a good thing. Worth visiting the sauna. We will certainly be back.

Nice escape from the city

This summer we made a day trip to this Eco Resort. Very quiet place with good facilities. Accommodations are very nicely furnished and decorated in the traditional style of a Yurt (nomad dwelling). Some addiditonal facilities like sauna, big restaurant, are still under construction, so soon it will be even more confortable to stay there. We had a very tasty lunch with traditional food Kuurdak from horse and beef meat and tea from samovar. From the resort you can make a hiking to the so-called Bishkek Panoramic view. We've heard that especially in the summer houses are all booked in advance. Highly recommend to make at least a day trip to that place.

Away from the hectic city

We visited the place with family for one day only. It is in 1 hour drive from Bishkek and reachable by car.  I think they organise pick up if ordered in advance but we went by own car. The resort situated in a nice gorge has few individual houses for two or three persons with WC and shower. The houses are made from clay and straw ( traditional way of Kyrgyz house construction) and covered by stone. It make house warm in winter and cool in summer. There is a floor heating for winter tourists. The furniture is made from local wood. Decorations are made with traditional patterns. Every house gas s small terrasse. There is a sauna, should be ordered in advance. The water for the sauna is heated outside in 2 big traditional pots from cast iron called "kazan" with aromatic herbs collected freshly in mountains. The water in pool comes from the natural spring nearby. The food is fresh and very tasty. The surrounding is just stunning. A lovely place for hiking, horse riding, to have fun with family, but also for quiet yogi holidays as well. 

We went hiking after the lunch to see Bishkek panorama from the top. Enjoyed walking in mountains filled with oregano and colorful flowers, green pastures with horses and sheeps. On the top observed a family of big birds flying and floating in sky, probably Hawks or Falcons. Unforgettable experience and a discovery of my Kyrgyz land. And of course the local hospitality is still there:) highly recommend the resort. I will come back there more.
