I know this resort for many many years. For sure the resort is better now than it was 15 years ago. Super friendly and super helpful staff in the bar, pool area, pizza place and the restaurant. The room service is very creative. See photos.
Unfortunately, the Management could care more about the upkeep of the resort and clients wishes. We were a group of 14 people, staying for 7 days. One would appreciate a bit of variety for breakfast. 
However, if you like to learn scuba diving or you are already a diver, then enjoy the great and friendly Scuba diving team.

Mixed feelings

I could not think of anywhere better to spend a weeks break, we have had a lovely stay in fabulous surroundings and have been looked after magnificently by the staff and management. 
A lovely swimming pool, air conditioned bedrooms, great and varied selection of food and drink, from facilities that seem to be open all day, early morning tea delivered to the bedrooms and perfect breakfasts.
Just delightful.

Fabulous weeks break

I went fishing with friends for a week in Watamu and we stayed at the beach house of Ocean Sports. It is a fantastic hotel with character! I look forward to going back next February! The bar/restaurant is excellent and they prepared dinner for us from the fish we caught. Also, next day’s lunch was prepared for us to take on the boat.

Great hotel for fishermen

Went for drinks and a bite. The service was appallingly bad. In the end no food was ordered because no waiter came back to us. The last glass of wine we went to order from the bar and it took 10 minutes to be brought.

a fun scene for expats. Great place to watch soccer - watched many world cup games there and enjoyed !

good place to watch sports!

This is the first time staying here. Great overall. We got some rooms that could do with upgrading but they were adequate enough. Great air-conditioning, to the point of being too cold ! The food was very good although during peak periods the quality slides a bit. They was confusion if you could reserve a table for the Sunday curry or not. Best advice is to eat early as it's busy with locals.

There is only WiFi in the reception area, apparently you can buy packages but we were not aware of this. There should be coverage throughout like other hotels., Although nice to be off grid but others might not like this option.
The staff were fantastic. They could not have been more helpful at all. To make not a few , Wcliffe and his team in the dining room and Daniel doing the rooms, superb, thankyou. 

Very relaxing 

I was BEYOND disappointed with OS this year. I have been going for years and this year I had friends out from Australia and we didn't even end up going to the NYE party. We finished dinner at 9.30pm...rocked up to OS and were told we wouldnt be allowed in until 11pm!??? Who pays 4000kshs for a ticket + potential corkage fee to wait outside until 11pm!?

I reserved tickets in advance and nowhere did it mention (on line or verbally) that the party started at 11pm. Absolutely ridiculous...we weren't even allowed in to buy a drink at the bar because everyone was still having dinner. What a joke.

I was so angry. I asked to speak to the manager Florian but was told by the guards (one called Albert) that he was too busy to see me. Oh and this so called bouncer/guard proceeded to flip me off and laugh at my face. How rude. OS NY has definitely lost its vibes..full of kids and rude staff. I have purposely boy-cotted it this holiday after that experience. I ended up somewhere else for NYE as was so irritated by how we were treated. 

I never usually write reviews but wow...I'm still reeling from how we were treated as customers. OS you need sort out your customer service. Every customer is important and should be treated as such. 

New Years Eve Party + Customer Service

It's lost all its charm. The place used to be vibrant, eccentric and so much fun. Now the experience has been ruined. 
You can't pay with mpesa, cards or cash. You have to buy books of vouchers at the door which are non-redeemable if you underspend. You can't even give leftover coupons to the waiters as part of the tip. 
In other words, you have to guess what you might spend. You pay in advance, not when you get the drinks or food. 
Soulless. Nasty. What a shame. 
Doubt the management could care less. Ride on the tails of the reputation of what once was. 


Sad and disappointing.  

We decided to pick Ocean Sports to celebrate a friends 40th birthday for lunch. 
The location is right by the ocean and you get to hear the waves while enjoying a fresh breeze from the ocean, a relief from the coastal heat. 
The Sushi here is unbelievably fresh and good, the environment adds to the fun of eating it. 
If you wish to go fishing, the resort is also a famous fishing club so feel free to ask for more details

We loved our stay at Ocean Sports - the views of the Ocean, the huge restaurant/bar area, the delicious food & the very friendly & helpful staff. Most villas have a view of the sea, though they don't have wi-fi. If you want a beach-front hotel in Watamu that is great value, and don't mind not having lots of shiny marble, then this is the hotel for you.
