I’ve been here for 6 days everything was pretty good the food was good and the lodge very close to the beach and shopping area I’ve really loved this place good value for money and the staff is very nice .. the only thing I didn’t like was the swimming pool a little dirty and the air
Conditioner extra money for every night ... but for the rest it was amazing ! I was a solo traveler and there I met so many people... I recommend this place definitely 🔝

Close to the beach and delicious food 

Mawimbi Lodge Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Watamu. Very close to the beach, I think something like 100 meters, the Hotel is located just in the main street of Watamu. You can go out from the Hotel and have a walk around there, where you can african shops and restaurants. The property of the Hotel is very very very good, Corinne and Maurizio are a fantastic couple: they helped us solving the problem of luggages that lasted to arrive, and they called everyday the airlines company to check the status of delivering. The restaurant of Mawimbi is fantastic: the food, the fish they prepare is someghing to try. I recomend this hotel because it was perfect for our holyday.

Excellent staff, food and surroundings. This is a very well located hotel / restaurant just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. The staff were super friendly & helpful. The room was very comfortable and quiet and was very well cleaned each day. The shower water was seldom warm but that didn’t matter much as it’s nice to cool down. 

Excellent from start to finish

The food at Mawimbi is really nice, the chicken and sea food was really awesome and the variety of cocktails was quite good too.  The owners and staff are very polite.  The ambience is great for outdoor eating and bonding.

Great restaurant

We go to Watamu once a year and have stayed in this place twice, we tried a different hotel this year and defo coming back to Mawimbi on our next stay!
It is just a small and cozy place, clean and curated. The best location right on the beach and the town center but very quiet. Do not hesitate to book your stay at Mawimbi

Highly recommended

Mawimbi is located in a super central area, is cozy and functioning.
Rooms are cushy and clean.
The owners are very polite and helpful and so is the staff. 
Everyone at the lodge is friendly and affable.
I highly recommend to stay at Mawimbi when in Watamu, you can reach basically every place quite easily both walking and with Tuk Tuks

They did not deliver the requested order.
The tuna sashimi was chunks of tuna steak, the grilled vegetables were briefly bbqd, the fish fillet with olives, tomato saus and capers was solely whitefish and even though a main course had no sides. For some reason there was potatoes on one of the pizzas, everything else was unseasoned.
We called them with the request to bring either the rest of the white fish dish and correct the shasimi. The refused, even after we offered to cover the delivery /return expenses by ordering some additional pizzas. The refused, as we asked for our money for the inadequate dishes to be returned they just refused eventhough they had confirmed with their kitchen that the orders were indeed messed up by their kitchen and written down correctly in their order from us. Management refused to come and the phone, challenged us to "come get our money"... 


Food was terrible, service worse

Started bad and ended worse. First off, we were double charged because staff does not know how to use the credit car machine. Getting the refund was near impossible. We were told that breakfast was included, it was not and we were charged. When we eventually made it into the rooms, the bathrooms were full of mould and had an unbearable odour. Of course you can’t get a refund to leave so you go to bed... then begins the all night music from the disco next door. Getting a refund for the double charge took 2 hrs never book here.
