Our stay at this family-friendly hotel was marked by delightful experiences, heightened by breathtaking views and an immersive wild setting. The customer service, while generally commendable, exhibited some delay in addressing specific queries. A minor setback was observed with the pool, as it was only half full due to a leakage issue.
Regrettably, the New Year's dinner and crossover activities on December 31st fell below our expectations. We would have preferred Samburu dancers for their kid-friendly appeal. However, it should be noted that the entertainment catered to those who enjoy alcohol and disco.
Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience was positive, especially considering that this visit marked our return after a decade. The charm of the location and the family-friendly atmosphere contributed to a memorable stay.


"Enchanting Return: A Decade Later, Embracing Nature and Family-Friendly Hospitality"

I’ll start with the positives: the food was good and the service was fine.

I did not book this location, I am on a 11 day tour through Kenya and the travel company recommended/booked this place. There is no electricity from 11:30pm to 6am and none after 9 am until 6:30 pm. It is hot. Waking up in a pool of sweat, fumbling around the room in total darkness to use the bathroom while bugs are crawling everywhere is just horrific. The pool was filthy and green. It is also barely filled with water. I would not recommend this to anyone. The only reason I gave it two stars is the service and food. 

I’ll be fair, if you are fortunate enough to get a room with solar, you can ask for a fan. But that fan does little unless blown right on you, and in that case, the other person in the room is hot. And forget charging your phones after a day of safari picture taking.

I would never recommend this place to anyone, and having traveled all over the world, it was the most unpleasant stay I’ve unfortunately had.

Worst place I have ever stayed at

The staff were exceptional - all friendly and could not not do enough to make our stay comfortable and solve every personal problem that we had. The food was varied and very good. The hotel is a little dated but clean and very comfortable. 


Exceptional staff

Sopa Samburu is a good facility if you are not too much on the pampering. The lodge is situated deep inside Samburu National Reserve. Rustic and a nice basic set up. It's ideal for adventure and of course game drives throughout the day. I loved the wilderness of it. The staff was great and hospitable.
Bush dinners and bonfire nights included. The Samburu dancers were very entertaining. Generally if you want to be in the open wild, this is the place.

This place has excellent service. Martin the supervisor was quite attentive to us. Nickson the manager gave us 5 star service. Patricia was just a trainee but she would go out of her way to ensure we don't raise our hands. Josephine and Florence were flawless!! Amazing teamwork and delivery. My fiancee had a stomach upset, their doctor Isaiah was quite professional. Congratulations Mr Alex. Keep up the good work...we will be back!!

Great experience

Me and my family of 4 were accommodated in Sopa lodge for 3 days (2 nights) me and my wife were celebrating 19 years of marriage. The Lodge is in the middle of  Samburu National park. Picturesque, sympathetic people and truly amazing views in the company of the animals. Very safe.
Room was clean very cosy with mosquito net above the bed which enriched even more romantic environment with my wife.


Magical place

We were given a room very near to reception ( number 3 ) which was greatly appreciated as I was having mobility problems. The lodge is very good with a lovely dining area and good pool. We had a couple of very eventful safari drives and were fortunate to see several cheetahs which are my favourite animals.
Samburu is a long drive from Nairobi but fortunately the roads have improved a lot since our last visit 12 years ago.

Highly satisfactory

It was a nice looking Lodge. Our room was situated near all the facilities, with a comfortable bed. The one problem we had was with bugs, firstly we had ants coming in room from the patio and the other was mosquitos getting in the net and being bitten over night.  One of the staff did came and sprayed the room for the ants. The restaurant was great with a buffalo style menu and great choice. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I was part of a group during Mashujaa Weekend and the lodge did a great job. Food was good, my room (no. 31) was big. Because of the rains there were some mosquitos and crickets in the room but the staff tried their best. The lodge organized a Sundowner for us and it was really great. Don't miss it when you are there. I like Samburu because there are some different animals you won't find in other parks and because the scenery.
