We stayed 5 nights and loved it. It is close to malls, Sheldrick elephant orphanage and the Giraffe Center. Would stay here again on next visit to Nairobi.

Great place to stay in Karen area

I stayed here with my husband and mother in December of 2015 on Christmas Eve/Christmas day. We had thousands of dollars worth of belongings stolen from our locked room in the 20 minutes it took us to eat breakfast. My husband and I are a newly married couple and this destroyed our finances. As the room was still locked when we returned I am still highly suspicious that a staff member was involved. While the management was kind in dealing with the theft, they were extremely slow to react (took them long to report to the police), and ultimately extremely unhelpful. While I didn't really expect to ever see our missing items again, I would have expected a decent apology from the hotel (who we never heard from again, despite being told they would keep us updated on the case). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A very nice place for budget and mid range travelers. Nice location around Karen area of Nairobi. The location is however far from the main shopping centers and malls. Has a business center and security is very good.

terrible; bush house is in an obscure location,not known and the online map reference is incorrect; my room was booked and paid for - yet was not available when I arrived; I was shifted to an annexe 2-3 km away which I had to find myself;could not be worse really; i think the staff are trying their best.

First off, I booked an airport transfer, that never showed up. When I did arrive at the house after finding my own transport I was sent to a room that I did not book. I was told the price I had paid online was not actually for the ensuite as was advertised. I was then shown to a building outside the main house which resembled a public toilet. The room was in fact right beside the shared toilets meaning you could hear everything that went on in there! It was dirty, cold and unpleasant. I requested an evening meal and waited in the dining room to then be handed a plate with a few soggy chips and some grisly beef. I was offered no drink or any other option. A woman at another table asked about vegetarian options and was just given chips.

The following morning I came across a woman who appeared to be in charge and complained about my lack of a transfer and being given the wrong room. She apologised and said they would honour my original booking and I was moved into an ensuite room inside the house itself. This was slightly better but still very dirty. 

On check out the following morning they tried to charge me more for my second night in the ensuite room. I was adamant I would not pay more however as the previous woman had given the impression my booking would be honoured at the price I initially paid.

Absolutely terrible stay. I would advise everyone to avoid this guesthouse!

Terrible, dirty and poor service


It is also knows as Karen House. I stay there just for one night,before going on my safari. It is near to the official house of the president and about 2-3 km far away from giraffe center. There are not many things to do around there... but it is good place to be there for one night. It is very clean and people are very nice. They help you on anything that you need. The rooms are very huge!!! And confortable. Breakfast is OK,  you can have coffee,milk,tea,yoghurt,juice, fruit,toast, omelette, jam, butter but not cream cheese. Short visit

Fine stay for business trip.

Whether you need a place to just stop-over or you want to pay Nairobi a longer visit, Bush House is great. I stayed for a month while working on projects as a volunteer. The area of Karen is quiet and safe. City center takes you half an hour by taxi (if no traffic jam). 

The house offers comfort, is clean and cosy. So are the rooms. Depending on your budget one can either have a private or shared room. The meals are good!
There is access to internet and in the living room there is TV if you like.
