Unfriendly welcome. Told them we needed early breakfast, 6:30, had to make it ourselves, with apples, oranges and a bun! Not recommended! As to location, arrived late, 10:30 or so, but called to inform them.

One-night stay

This is the cheapest of the three accomodation facilities on Ralph Bunchen Rd.  
It's rooms are bigger than the two other accomodation options but the bathroom can't compete, the shower pressure is low. They have instant heater though and it works.
The noise level can get to the higher end when someone is cooking in the kitchen, talking in the lobby or watching TV. 
It's location is the best thing about it - close to kenyatta and nairobi hospital, there's a group of health centers in Java, there is an ATM across the street, a coffee lounge, vegetable and fruit sellers, easy access to public transport and taxi, a few minutes ride to town, in a secured compound with CCTV monitoring, lawyers are next door and so is a private specialised clinic, traffic police opposite, the list  an go on.

The Internet is really good and it is free.

It is a decent place and I would recommend it if all you need is a bed for the night.


Budget friendly accomodation  in a safe street 

easily accessible despite of the incessant traffic in the city. accommodation was reasonable for what they offered. its a fair average guest house but not ideal for a regular family weekend away. and honestly its not home away from home

I did not expect such a spacious room and good services for a budget hotel. It is the best budget place i have stayed in-Nairobi. The service is good with friendly staff. The place is easy accessible  through public transport or taxis

Cozy and homelike

When we first arrived in Nairobi in July 2013 as part of a group coming to visit and perhaps help out in a school in the slums of Nairobi, we  stayed for a couple of nights in the YMCA - and that was terrible! Our little group protested to our Kenyan friend and trip organiser Peter and asked him to look for somewhere else elsewhere for when we returned from visiting the south of the country! He found us Angaza - and what a total difference!
It depends on how you look at it.
Yes, I agree it's not a very large place at all and the facilities, including the rooms, are basic
BUT -
1.  it is well looked after, and you're not paying 4-star prices for a start.
2.  it is in a sheltered compound with gates and a security guard, and away from the main road and so quite quiet.
3. it is handy for buses or taxis into town (you really should try the minibuses - it's quite an experience, unlike any British bus services!)
4. The staff were very solicitous when we were there, especially the receptionist/housekeeper Ruth - and she is back there again, this time as manageress, and she does know how to look after guests, rest assured.
4. as far as evening meals are concerned, you can cook your own there (they've got a decent kitchen area) but there are a few restaurants in the vicinity, and we can recommend the Chinese one only 200m away.
All in all we were extremely sorry to leave Angaza and Ruth - but we have happy memories of the place, and Ruth is still in regular touch with us. She certainly puts her guests first, rest assured!
