We are international travellers staying next door to Mariposa at Happy Site. My father decided to try the restaurant,  where he encountered the Italian middle aged male of who has no business running a property ANYWHERE! 

At our cottages, there are menus from this place, lauding DELIVERY, as the rest like Osteria ( great delivery experience)  No where on the Mariposa menu does it say ' PICK UP' and or NO DELIVERY. This Italian male started yelling at his employee for agreeing to come with my dad next door and take my mum's order.  She had just arrived Malindi. Due to his arrogance, ny father decided to leave without drinking his tea or eat snacks, and said for his PA to have it ' to go'. Again, I called the # online where this same guy says.. no delivery, you need pick up!! Come on now???? Completely unacceptable and condescending.  1* is too much in my opinion.  He needs to get it together and stop his bigotry.

RIDICULOUS OWNER

Emilio the manager is very nice but the fact that he does everything means that you have to call him to check in and check out, as there isn't a receptionist which gets frustrating. Rooms are basic but do the job except for the pillows that are incredibly hard and uncomfortable; holes in the mosquito net and the occasional smell of sewage.

Also the beach outside the hotel is very busy on weekends which may be a problem if you are looking for a quiet time.

Has potential but not amazing

We went to mariposa to check in around 6 pm today,found no one at the reception so the security guard called the manager to assist us with check in. A drunk person on the phone told us that there was no availability, when the hotel was obviously empty, we asked him to please come to the reception and he hanged up the phone on us. We have never experienced anything like that before!! It is a shame and a lack of proffesionality!!

Worst service ever

Stayed at the Mariposa Residence and was very impressed with the place and the service. Emilio, the owner was very nice and looked after me and my family very well. Promised him I will definitely go back. The restaurant serves very nice dishes and the staff are very friendly. You can have your order delivered to your apartment from the restaurant should you wish to do so. Security is very good and makes you feel safe.
