Treetops Lodge

Was at Treetops Aberdares in August 2024 and its beautiful, very good and helpful staff from the reception all the way to housekeeping. Very clean, good food, lots of history and beautiful view. We got to see many Hyenas, Elephants, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, Warthogs and Baboons. 

It was very cold but they provided hot water bottles at night. We stayed for one night and would definately come back.

We stayed here for 1 night as part of our safari. Rooms with a view of the watering hole. As we were there out of season there were only 11 guests in total. We were lucky enough to see so many animals. Rhino, elephants, hyenas, buffalos, Bushbaby and antelope. The ground floor viewing hide was an amazing place to watch the elephant. You could almost touch them.

Treetops is amazing, especially the history where it had just 2 rooms when it was first built. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean, and face the waterhole so you don't miss a chance to sight animals. The food was amazing with a good variety. Perfect place to relax and enjoy all the animals coming to you. I loved every bit the trip and would definitely recommend the lodge because of the historical experience.

This place has a lot of history which is well displayed when you visit. Food was excellent. Rooms were good too. All rooms have a view to the waterhole. Alot of animals come to the waterhole. Staff were welcoming and very helpful.

It has a buzzer system in the rooms. When animals come it is activated so you can view them.

We stayed one night in the treetops Lodge at the beginning of our safari. The creaky wood floors and decor make it seem like we could have been there during the colonial era. The watering holes on each side of the building were well visited by water buffalos, water bucks, baboons, warthogs, and a bull elephant. Each room has a buzzer (can be turned off) alerting guests to wildlife visiting in the night. This alarm wasn’t necessary for us as we heard the growling and barking of hyaenas fighting over a water buffalo kill at 3 am. We got out of our room and watched them in the floodlights for an hour.  Food was served as a buffet and was adequate, but the ambience was fantastic. 

As the hotel is aged and built around a watering hole. Fabulous voew of elephants around the watering hole. Bring binoculars to look around the property and see herds of wildebeest. The windows were facing the watering for a great view. Accommodations were okay. However, the dining room food was decent but the staff appears to be unprepared for large groups of guest. Run out of meat for the grill and had to wait 15 minutes for replenishment, out of cups, substituted soup bowls for coffee cups.  However, have the servers were very pleasant and did try.their best. 

There was one server ledrly woman that runs about and appears oblivious of people and just barges through - maybe she was having a bad day ?

This was our first stop on a 4 day safari. From the moment we arrived the elephants started gathering in the waterhole outside. All rooms have an amazing view as do the windows in the public areas. The animal experience was everything we could have hoped for but the rooms are a bit tired and our buzzer, which alerts you to the animals outside, wasn’t working correctly so we missed seeing the rhino during the night. The staff are friendly and although the food was ok we waited a very long time both at dinner and breakfast and the portions are far too big!

The iconic Treetops is the start of our Kenyan adventure and does not disappoint. 
The staff are lovely and the food (buffet) is very good.
Elephants and buffalo are plentiful at the watering hole to lick the salt that has been put out for the animals for decades. You certainly need to put your buzzer on at night. At some point in the night the buzzer sounded 3 times, we jumped out of bed and there was a huge rhino!! Amazing! 
The rooms are very comfortable and the prices of the wine and beer very reasonable. (Beer £2.50 ish, bottle of wine £13)

We really enjoyed our stay at the renovated and reopened Treetops Lodge.  The suite in which we stayed was spacious with excellent amenities, a great view of the watering hole, and a nice bathroom.  The food was very good, the wildlife plenty, and the staff very friendly and helpful.  As part of the renovations, they added ramps to all the floors, making the hotel much more accessible.  We would  recommend getting passes to the Aberdare National Park Treetops gate in advance through the Kenya Wildlife Service online portal once you know the date of your arrival.  You can obtain passes at the gate, but the process can take time and is more cumbersome than doing it in advance through the KWS site on the Kenyan ecitizens platform.

Wow! Had a fantastic night here. Staff was friendly, food was wholesome and the animals coming to the water hole simply magical. All this for a very reasonable price. If I had to nit pick the water for the shower was inconsistent, ran very hot then cold but we made do. Will definitely be back.

Historical and Amazing

Historical location with wildlife

Treetops needs a total refurbishment and a lot of money spent, floors are creaky, rooms are basic. We stayed for one night on the start of the safari. breakfast and dinner is buffet style which was ok. Staff are brilliant and helpful. Did not see a lot at the watering hole. The stay was nostalgic as we were allocated the room where the Queen stayed.

Treetops living on nostalgia

Treetops was a little disappointing when we pulled up first because its outside is rather tired. However, when you look at it closely, you can see the thought process behind the wooden slatted exterior and tall stilts. It is intended to blend into the natural surroundings and allow the native animals to feel more at ease being so close to humans. 
There is a watering hole right outside the back where you can watch various animals come to drink. 
The restaurant is very nice and the food was delicious. 
The room itself was old fashioned and small but comfortable. 
The viewing area outside is very picturesque and we enjoyed sitting there watching the evening come in. 
It is a great experience, it is a piece of history, British royalty has stayed there. I enjoyed the stay but one night was sufficient for us.

GREAT VIEW OF ELEPHANTS

Fabulous Elephants

If you are a fan of herds of elephants, don't miss out on this hotel. The historical background of the hotel made it interesting and the appearance will satisfy any kid with a dream of living in a treehouse.  The viewing room is quite comfortable, but i think the best viewing place is from the reception. Food is on the average side and no hair dryers are provided,  so please take note.

Great staff, rooms were not too big, but really clean, cold enough because of the fact that the hotel is located in the mountains. There is a lake in front of the hotels were A LOT of animals come to drink (we saw 30+ elephants, 50+ buffaloes, etc.), just for that, it was well worth it.
