Royale Karen Hotel

We were delighted to return to the Royale Karen (twice) on another expedition with Samson Gathogo (Rated Tours).  This was our base in Nairobi for the start and end of our trip and we were so pleased to be back.  The new manager was very welcoming and the staff just as friendly and helpful, even keeping my lost property for my return.  Extremely well located with an informal drinking and dining area around the pool, and a comfortable room we felt immediately back home.  A few international visitors like us were passing through, but much of the clientele were local people enjoying the facilities which gave a great atmosphere.   We look forward to a return visit when next we are in Nairobi.

We were introduced to this Hotel by our Kenyan guide and friend Samson (Rated Tours), and were impressed at how convenient the location was for places we wanted to visit, and how tranquil for Nairobi, providing a relaxed outdoor leisure area  - the staff working in the hotel could not be more friendly, helpful and welcoming.  The guests seem to be a mix of International visitors staying for a night or two in Nairobi and local people using the pool and gym facilities, which made for a lovely warm atmosphere.  We enjoyed great service and meals served by the informal pool area, or in the covered dining or club areas, and were allocated an upstairs room that was quiet and well appointed. Our stay was for a couple of nights whilst in Nairobi, then were very pleased to return for a relaxing lunch before catching the flight home to Suffolk, UK.  We very much hope to return on a future trip to Nairobi.

Good location, good food, big range of drinks, quiet, clean rooms and  big swimming pool to cool down knowledgeable staff ask for Manager Andrew Gichuru. Attentive to customer needs. 
Area is close to galleria mall for shopping.

This hotel is in a very very serene area, nice location. When i last stayed there, well actually the two times, in a span of three months, i was allocated room no 5,the first time i went there the bath basin was broken, we ignored it and reported it to the receptionist, next time we visit 2 months later, given the same room, bath basin is worse, can really hurt someone, lights flickering in the room, and the rooms are always infested with ants, come on!!! Telephone not working, my husband had to fix it, it was just horrible 

Poor management 

Not far from the main Langata Road this place is down a side Road near to Langata Link. It's room are furnished Kenyan style. Cheap and cheeful. There's parking out front near reception. Security seems quite good. A small bar and restaurant to the left of the pool area. There's a gym there.  But often machines are broken, awaiting repair or out of order. 😕
The pool is the nicest thing about this place. On weekends and school holidays it can get quite rowdy though. 
Not an ideal location for a European . I think a good base for Africans though. 

Acceptable. Don't expect too much.

My recent experience here was extremely disappointing due to the service provider's rude and condescending attitude. The woman at the reception who assisted me was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable throughout my time there. 
Despite her age, I would expect her to uphold basic professional standards. It's clear that customer satisfaction and professionalism are not a priority for this establishment. I would advise others to seek alternative options when looking for service in this area.

Kindly note it's the woman who's always there in the evening I usually find her there from 4 pm

 It goes to show that age doesn't necessarily equate to professionalism. I would recommend seeking out the assistance of the younger service provider if you visit this establishment.
