Tawi Lodge

Found the rooms large and very comfortable.  Gladys were very helpful and friendly!!!  Went on a game drive to see specific elephant bulls - had Tom as my guide.  He clearly understands photography, light and can read the bulls.  Would def recommend him if you serious about photography!

Wonderful lodge with really friendly staff. Very knowledgeable guide and delicious food. 
Lovely swimming pool and constant stream of animals coming to the water hole. 

Wonderful stay at Tawi. The lodge is gorgeous and well positioned in a beautiful conservancy. The food was excellent and very well prepared. Staff were wonderful and helpful. We had excellent game drives in the reserve and the conservancy ( conservancy was where we saw the big Tucker Craig, two cheetahs, and a pride of lions)! We had a lovely nature walk followed by simple sun downers. Excellent stay. For those booking drives through the camp, we’d just recommend clarifying the schedule at check-in to ensure everyone’s on the same page. Guides Moses and Gabriel were amazing. Alphonse and Gladys were always available with suggestions and helped resolve some miscommunications. Thanks Tawi! We loved it!

Amazing staff and accommodations. Their watering hole is a great place to view elephants. Food is delicious. We chose the all inclusive deluxe package. Game drives in the conservancy where we saw cheetahs and lions and Amboseli where we saw the infamous herds of elephants. Make sure you communicate with the staff ahead of time about your schedule, so there’s no confusion of services included. Moses and Gabriel were amazing guides and a wonderful nature walk and Sundowner with a local Masai man and Conservancy Warden. Hope to be back.

What to say as we come to the end of our stay here, 4 nights and days we will never forget.
It’s hard to quantify what is so good about Tawi Lodge.
Firstly the private conservancy and the close proximity to  Amboselli National Park. The game drives morning and evening have been nothing short of spectacular.
Our guide was a young lady named Emanuella who was a wealth of information on the wildlife of the Park, her and the driver made sure we saw everything we could and got us as close to the animals without intruding on them.
We found out today that she is not one of their regular guides but her knowledge and experience did not show that in any shape or form. Our only suggestion is a slightly bigger voice to allow for the noise of the vehicle on the rough park tracks.
The in house staff, Firstly Gladys the guest experience person, what a wonderful job she does, nothing is too much trouble and she makes you feel a valued and wanted guest.
The kitchen staff produce the most amazing meals 3 times a day which are expertly served by Jane,Boniface and Samuel.
The room was immaculately serviced every day by Jackson with a smile and a hello.
The room was large comfortable and had a spacious bathroom with views from both the bath and shower into the bush, watching Zebra and Elephants while relaxing in the bath was wonderful.
The main lodge is beautifully appointed and today we spent the morning under the shade of a tree watching numerous elephants enjoying the water hole just metres away with the magnificent Mt Kilimanjaro away in the distance .
The same spot around the fire pit in the evening is a great spot to sit with a drink and mingle and chat with fellow guests.
There is also a great abundance of bird life around the property and the little family of Mongoose playing by the swimming pool were enchanting to watch along with the resident monkeys around the property.

Fantastic location in a private reserve just 20 minutes outside of Amboseli. There is a watering hole in front of the main area so each one of the beautifully appointed rooms will give you views of giraffes, zebras, and elephants constantly outside your room, heading to the watering hole. We want to bring our children and grandchildren back.  The rooms are huge and beautiful!

Tawi Lodge the 1st stop on my African vacation and it was beautiful! Room was gorgeous, staff was wonderful and the game drives/driver were amazing! The icing on the cake was the watering hole on the property, you can eat meals and watch all the animals come right to you! A massage and facial are a must! I would definitely stay here again!

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Kenya and the Amboseli National Park where we stayed at the charming Tawi Lodge.  Tawi Lodge is located just outside the main park in its own conservancy and looks over a watering hole where all sorts of animals come to drink (such as giant elephants, giraffes, zebras) and you too can enjoy a cool Tusker at the bar / swimming pool over looking the action!  Tawi Lodge consists of one beautiful main lodge where you have breakfast /dinner and then really luxurious, secluded cottages with their own terraces. We stayed in cottage 13 - it was truly fantastic - and very high spec with a large walk in shower and a private terraces overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro - it was truly magical. The staff could not do more to make us feel welcome and the service and food was really top notch made using fresh ingredients from their own herb garden and fish farm.    Our safari guide, Gabriel, did a great job in tracking down the animals in and out of the park. One morning he actually tracked a female lioness right outside the lodge in deep thicket!! Many thanks to Gladys (Manager), Christopher (in restaurant) and lovely massage lady (the massage was fantastic) . If you want a relaxing, luxurious, boutique place to stay that is right outside the main Amboseli park - I can highly recommend the Tawi Lodge.

Fantastic Lodge all around!  We are photographers and birders. Our driver/guide was amazing. To start, we traveled by safari vehicle from the Serena Lodge and saw over 30 giraffes before arriving. Of course we saw elephants, zebra, etc etc. we were lucky enough to encounter “Craig” one of the last long- tuskers twice. The lodge itself is beautiful- shout out to Gladys - food was delicious and they accommodated my need for gluten-free options. Definitely recommend.

We just came back from two days at Tawi Lodge. It was booked as part of our safari itinerary with Kenya Experience. 

It was a wonderful stay from start to finish. This eco-lodge is set on a 3000 acre conservancy that not only benefits the wildlife but also the local community. On our way in and out of the grounds each day to Amboseli National Park (entrance about 15 to 20 minutes away), we saw so many giraffes, gazelles, impalas, monkeys, and even a hyena my mom thought we were in the national park). During breakfast, an elephant stopped by the watering hole I nearly panicked and dropped my fork. 

The service is impeccable. When we arrived the staff and managers were lined up ready to welcome us. We were given cold towels to freshen up, given an introduction to the main lodge, then shown to our rooms. 

The rooms were very spacious. And yes being an eco-lodge, you should be aware hot water is powered by solar, though they made a point that they can make more if needed and to let them know if we want to take a bath versus using a shower.  We know water is a valuable resource so we opted not to use the bath tub as a hot shower was plenty for us. 

The food in their restaurant is great. Lunch first day was ok but fantastic second day. Dinner selections are stellar and delicious. 

Would definitely recommend the sundowner as having a glass of wine while the sun sets over the conservancy and Mt Kilimanjaro revealing itself was truly special. Alphonse, the manager, recommended this and he did not disappoint!

Amazing Safari Lodge

Wonderful stay - stellar service.

Tawi Lodge is such a cool special place.  I am glad we went in the wet season as I hear the dust can be a challenge for both the customers and the staff.  We visited Nov 6th - 9th, 2023

Gabriel picked us up at the airport and was so happy to offer us a Tusker (Local beer).  He was gracious and patient as we had to roll through 5 different credit cards to pay try and pay the Park fees.  Stupid banks…LOL.

Once we arrived at Tawi, Elizabeth greeted us with such a spunky fire that it left us smiling as we checked into our room.  This is a very calm environment and great as it only has 13 rooms, so you can get to know the staff and other guests.  We did a Full Board experience, as the portions for breakfast and dinner were more than enough for the two of us.

We only stayed 3 nights and went on two game drives with Gabriel and a sundowner.  Gabriel is very informative in his game drives; shared some local cultural knowledge, and made us laugh with some of his adventurous stories.  My favorite is the one about the turtle.  (You have to go to hear it…LOL)

Titus was extremely attentive in both dinner and bartender services and always made sure we were taken care of while at Tawi.  His servers, although shy, were also very attentive and made sure we did not want for anything.

I did use the pool, even though it was their winter.  Still 82 degrees Fahrenheit.  I think they thought I was crazy, since they were all in winter clothes, but it was kind of nice to have it all to myself. 

We were recommended to take a nature walk with Larusha, the local Masai Warrior, and then meet up with Gabriel for a sundowner.  We learned a great deal about their local culture, the animals, and plants.  I even think their toothbrush stick works better than the toothbrush I brought!  When catching up with Gabriel for some snacks and wine as the sun went down, we had some more in depth  conversations around family, culture, and life in general.  Getting to know the people here in Kenya was my favorite part of this visit!

We had an amazing stay at Tawi and the staff was so helpful and made a huge effort to make us happy and grant all our wishes! Comfortable lodge with a nice pool right by a watering hole where you can see lots of different animals. Our guide Tom was the absolute best and made our whole experience incredible !  Can 100% recommend!
