The rooms is this hotel are quite good, always clean with comfortable beds.
The staff are really helpful and always polite and helpful.
The annoying things are unreliable wifi in some rooms. I had this problem two years ago at this hotel and it hasn’t changed. Strong signal in the lobby but in my room it only worked some of the time.
Sometimes you have to take second place because of hockey teams having the entire restaurant booked. They will tell you to either have dinner in the lobby or put up with the cigarette smoke in the sports bar.
Not too many dinner options nearby unless you are willing to hike on the ice and snow for a couple of blocks.
None of the above is the fault of the staff, they are great. The management should remember their other guests and not just the hockey teams.

Some good things but thing to annoy you

The aphorism is from Coco Chanel and in my view fits perfectly to this excellent hotel.
Despite being recently built, the appearance and decorations are reminiscent of an imperial mansion, but with style and elegance.
The interiors are sumptuous and the rooms really very comfortable.
In the morning you will have a high standard breakfast that you will not easily forget.

Luxury is a necessity that begins when the necessity ends

Hotel building is nice, location is good - close to the river along which there is nice allée. The room was a little small but very clean, well designed with enough space to sleep and work and with balcony as well. Bottle water was provided every day, wi-fi works, and there are lot of channels, although all of them are either Kazakh or Russian, no single English channel.  Bathroom is good size with all of the necessary amenities and toiletries. Staff was friendly, check-in and check-out process was fast. Hotel lobby is large and impressive with lobby bar and sport cafe  on the second floor. Breakfast was good: wide choice of different foods and fruits. So, it should be one of the best choice in Oskemen, highly recommended.

Excellent hotel in every point

It’s nicely positioned in the center of the city, it’s good, well arranged and managed, with most of what one would expect from the hotel 
Comparable to the other cities in KZ this one has good hotels,
Coming back to But... it’s already “tired” and needs some renovation. It’s seen in a details and overall
Most of the stuff is very friendly but there are strange special ladies at the reception , that consider clients to be disturbing and inconvenient fact.
On top of that, water in the rooms , especially hot one, is a total mystery: you never know if it will be freshly boiled or slightly hot 
Do not expect any sign at the faucet for hot and cold: it should be a funny game to see if you are lucky or not. Do not forget famous “Russian roulette “
But once again, it’s ok and it’s good for the regional city of that size in KZ


It’s one of the best in town, but...

The Shiny River Hotel in Oskemen was our base of operations in the city at the end of May. It was fairly average, we weren’t expecting a lot really. The staff were friendly and willing to help with anything we needed, the hotel had issues with hot water, we asked for non-smoking rooms but not sure any are actually non-smoking, we opened the window to air it all out and got the street noise. The location is really good though, close to lots to see and do in Oskemen, good breakfast on offer and price was reasonable for a 3 star property. Overall not bad, not impressive by any means but the eagerness of the staff and the breakfast was enough for us to have a pleasant stay.

In total it os a good hotel to stay. The breakfast is ok. The matress in the cheapest rooms are horrible though. The reception staff is ready to help you.
Shower leaks, half of the room wass under water.

Second best hotel in town

The room was very hot. You have to keep the window open all the time. 
Towels and sheets had  a trace of blood. No spare toilet papers. Water was cold sometimes.
Reception is not friendly. Not willing to responde your questions.
