If you are interested in GULAG it's the place to visit since it is the city that was built due to KARLAg, one of the camps of GULAG. There is a museum devoted to atrocities of Stalin era. The city itself is not that exciting. The roads are bad. The public transportation is atrocious. It is my hometown.
