Wadi Rum Protected Area Camp

Best camp in wadi rum if you want a true and traditional experience, while being confortable. I have come for years in the camp and always recommend it. Compared to other camps, Nadja is sticking to principles to have a human size accommodation. Either with couple or families, the camp is best located in wadi rum, as slightly isolated from the others. You will feel unique !!!

Sleeping in a comfy tent under that starry blanket was unreal.  Add in the tastiest local meals (think fresh bread and fragrant stews) and the friendliest Bedouin guides you'll ever meet (they practically know the desert by heart!), and you've got the recipe for an epic adventure.

Camels? We did camels.  Jeep tours through canyons? You bet.  Sunsets that paint the sky in fiery hues? Every. Single. Night.  Wadi Rum Green Camp isn't just a stay, it's an experience that'll leave you starry-eyed (and phone-free) long after you leave.

What can I say about my trip to Wadi Rum, a truly bucket list experience! The vastness of the landscape is out of this world. 

As for the accommodation options, there is a lot of choice and each year continues to see more and more accommodations be setup. However, only a select few will provide you with an intimate, personal and authentic experience. 

Green Desert was amazing value for money, situated in a fantastic part of the desert (away from other camps). The rooms are really spacious and for me as a solo traveller a little bit of luxury with three beds! I doubt I will ever have a better view from my room. The camp feels like a big family with everyone meeting in the communal areas for homemade food and tea. 

I cannot recommend my guide Nadjah highly enough! The most hospitable person I met in all my travels in Jordan!. After spending two full days in the desert with him, he felt like my brother. He went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my time as much as possible and he clearly loves meeting and welcoming tourists to his camp. 

Maybe one day I will return. For those wanting one of the best travel experiences you can have, visit Wadi Rum and Green Desert Camp. You will not be disappointed.

Green desert Wadi Rum camp is an amazing place with wonderful, clean rooms with own bathrooms with warm water and great panoramic windows with desert view.  It’s more than you will ever need in the desert, not mentioning the great starry nights… But above all I like to thank our host Nadjah and his family – they were so kind and caring all the time and make us feel like home. After our night in the camp we make 2 days trekking deep in the desert and we have a guide, good company and freshly cooked meals, tea and coffee all the time, moreover Nadjah has so many stories about the desert, bedоuin life and Jordan at all. If you like to feel the real desert atmosphere and feel safe and carefree Nadjah is your guy and Green desert is your camp.

Great place to stay. We stayed there in the second week of March. The place was very clean with private bathrooms and hot water. The staff is friendly.
The food was delicious. They even have the cutest and most pampered cat in the world who keeps trying to sneak into the room :D

It was an overall perfect stay for us. If you crave adventure and making new friends as well as great food and authenticity- this is the place to stay. Nadjha and his whole Team really feel like family within minutes! They all are very polite and try to make you as comfortable as possible. There was not a single request from us that has been denied.

Greetings from the Fox and the girl who can’t cook.

We chose this Camp because of it's remoted position. You can't see any other camps, which is very nice, so you get a feeling of isolation. It's totally quiet and you only hear the crickets at night.

The rooms are very clean and you get to have a own bathroom in each, with an toilet and a shower, also absolutely clean. The Highlight are the big Windows, were you can calmly observe the Desert day or night.

At Breakfast you get the typical bread and a variety of spreads like hummus or yogurt and Marmelades but also eggs and cheese. For Dinner you get a Buffet of Jordanian dishes. A special Highlight is the bedoiun dish Za'arb, which is cooked underground.

We also did the 6-hour tour through Wadi Rum, where you get to see some beautiful places, and some places you may recognize from movies like Star Wars or The Martian. The tour ends at rock-site wehre you'll see the sun go down.
We had the luck to do the tour with nadja, the chief of the camp with whom we cooked our lunch on that day.

Nadja's very friendly and open and helps with any concern. We had a warm Welcome and didn't feel like customers but guests!

We'll definitely come back some day! 

After being picked up from our location the owner drove us to our traditional Bedouin camp and we were warmly welcomed by everyone. Dinner was excellent and I would highly recommend the jeep tours (has to be booked in advance).

I’ve travelled to Wadi Rum 4 times, and this place is by far the most quiet and peaceful. 

Our guide and host Nadjah is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. 

This camp is secluded, quiet and small. It’s size enables Nadjah and his family to give you an intimate and authentic experience. 

It is also great that the tents come with an ensuite!

Serenity, hospitality, friendliness, mindfulness, flexibility, knowledge, storytelling, authenticity - a true Bedouin - Nadjah, Salman, and their family.

Secluded between 3 rock faces, in touch with natural wonders, tucked away from noise and light pollution,
relax and let your self to stargazing and listening to the birds, wind, and sand humming, wake up early, and, when lucky as I was, observe desert birds, camels, and rare desert fox. 

Comfy and spacious rooms, individual bathroom (shower and toilet), electricity (British plugs), huge panoramic window to enjoy the surroundings and sunrise (camp oriented south east).

Food is cooked on the spot. Amazing breakfast included. For dinner enjoy the Bedouin Zarb (all you can eat) - slowly cooked selection of veggies, meat, and spicy meat mixture. Proceed with affordable drinks, and end it up with hospitality tea enjoyed around the camp fire - relax on your back on a mattress and get immersed in the sky full of stars. Maybe a shooting star will grant you a wish.  ;)

We booked a full day JEEP tour around the desert - worth each dinar invested, especially taken the fair price (no need to haggle and negotiate believe me).
Wadi Rum experienced at your own pace, like it should be, explore in the morning and evening, rest and shelter during the worst heat wave. Nadjah have accommodated to our curiosity - we took looooooong stops at places we found mesmerizing, fast-forwarded the places when it was too hot or difficult for our 7 year daughter.
Tour covers all the important parts of Wadi Rum but in a reverse order, plus some less explored parts that we loved so much. The most of the time you will be under impression of being alone - appreciate the silence and nature sounds.
A long stop for lunch and rest resourced us for the rest of the adventure - Nadjah takes a special pride and takes care of homemade fresh cooking - we have wiped clean our bowls. :)

IMPORTANT: be respectful of the desert and camp:
- use water with MODERATION (it is towed from the Disah by a truck)
- respect the nature and silence
- bring your own towels and toiletries
- bring back your trash (plastic, aluminum, glass, etc.) - you can consider offering food scraps (e.g. water mellon peel) to your host to give to animals when suitable.

EXCEPTIONAL mediative and cathartic desert experience

My wife and I can't imagine visiting Wadi Rum without Nadjah by our side.  In the two days that we were there, we did the jeep tour, the full hike to Burdah (definitely a must-do), a sunset camel ride, and spent time outside at night just doing some wonderful star-gazing. The camp now has in-tent bathrooms as opposed to the shared bathrooms that used to be there. On our first night, there was a small problem with this as there seemed to be a leak somewhere in the system so there was a very noticeable "bathroom" odor in the tent. We brought this to the attention of Abu Adam and we were immediately switched to another tent. That was really the only issue we had there. The tents are comfortable and have large windows that look out into the desert.  We really never had a bad meal while we were there. While other outfits were providing their guests with tuna packets for lunch, Nadjah was cooking us homemade meals during the day and Abu Adam was making delicious breakfasts and dinners (the Zarb was INCREDIBLE). Plus, there's the abundance of tea! We had MANY varieties of tea during our stay, which were all great. Above all, we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with our new friend, Nadjah. It was great learning about his homeland, but it was also great just chatting with him about his family, religion, the country of Jordan, and so many other topics.
