Minshuku Inakahama (Yakushima)

Simple minshuku near Inakahama beach. Rooms are bright, with futon sleeping mats. Might take getting used to if you are haven't tried before, but still affords a good sleep. Shared bathroom facility, however only open in the afternoon and evening. Clothes washing facility also available. Very good (Japanese style) evening meal and breakfast, locally products well prepared, But - what sets this place apart, and the reason why you'd stay, is the turtles. The host is a member of the local turtle conservation volunteer group, and is authorized to assist with egg collection (and relocation to safer places on the beach!), so can organizes close up access to turtles during their laying time. This is usually early in the morning, before sunrise. This is a tremendous opportunity to get up close to an endangered wonder of the sea.
