Hananoki Kouen

I stayed at Hananoki Koen for 5 days and it was a very nice experience. I loved the room because I love tatami and futon. Staff gave a hot water bottle (yutanpo) which was nice, although it wasn't really that cold in the room. The view from the room is beautiful which overlooks the Toyokawa river with the mountains as a backdrop. The hotel is the perfect place base to explore the area. It's close to the historic Nagashino battlegrounds, museum and local temples. You can catch delicious fish from the river and the chef will cook it for you. It's easy to travel further up into the valley either by foot or bicycle. I want to go back again later in the year for the Hiondori (festival of fire) and Nagashino battle re-enactment.
