It is an older Buddhist temple and feels wonderful to be in a place with such character and history. The meals (all are vegetarian in accordance with Buddhist tradition) are a delicious delight. This is from one who is not a vegetarian! The service is personal and sincerely caring. I would recommend visiting Daisen and staying there.

We headed to Mt. Daisen to have lunch at Sanrakuso. We had syuojin ryori or traditional Buddhist vegetarian meal consisting of 12 different dishes. It was a feast! Yes, all of them were from vegetables, flowers, and other plants! They all tasted good! The plates, saucers, and other utensils used were instagrammable! If you can understand Japanese it will be nice to hear an explanation about the dishes by a monk who supervises the place. I also loved the ambience. I will surely go back someday if I have a chance.

As someone who eats instant noodles every day, it was a really unique experience for me to have an all-vegetarian traditional Japanese meal. The fact that all the vegetables are locally grown made it even more special! I had an interesting time choosing what dish to eat next! I'm sure you will too!

Sanrakuso is an elegant fine-dining restaurant offering vegetarian dishes. The ingredients are all fresh vegetables in season, obtained from the Daisen. There is a variety of food and it is very satisfying to eat.

I was here for a lunch with my local friends.

All dishes are vegetarian dishes. It is said that everyone would like to come here to have a meal for their stomach and have a meditation for their spirit.

I appreciate the delicacies from Mountain Daisen. They are gifts from the Nature. These rare vegetables are fresh ingredients of the season. They are barely available in supermarkets. Although some are bitter, they are really good for health.

We had some sesame tofu, soy milk soup pot, rice cake with rapeseed, grapefruit skin, wild vegetables with unohana and vegetable tempura. 

The creative chef imitates the shape and taste of seafood and meat to make dishes.A dish made with arrowroot starch, is cut into squid sashimi.

The tableware designs are pretty cool. I like my wine glass the most. It is really great to have a meal in a beautiful traditional Japanese room.

Soon will be 3rd March, known as the Girls’ Day in Japan. So there are some exquisite decorations of dolls.

We ate the lunch there. The restaurant is very clean and we feel like in ancient japan due to its decoration. And they provided almost 10 dishes for us including wild plants, local tea and wines which tasted like juice. For vegetarians, it's a good place to have a taste of Japanese food. And for the others, it's interesting to try this kinds of food in a restaurant where there are some religion stuff and you can pray.

My partner and I just spent two nights at Sanrakuso, while we were visiting Daisen-ji and Mt. Daisen National Park.  The location of this vegan Ryokan couldn’t be better - it is just a few steps from the entrance to Daisen-ji.  The rooms are spacious, the hospitality of the staff is responsive and friendly, the baths are clean and well-maintained, and the whole place is generally kept clean and neat.  The free WiFi is fast.  Now to the best part - the food focuses on locally grown vegetables and wild greens of all kinds, and is really a treat!  For a wonderful experience of a traditional Japanese Inn, come to Sanrakuso!

It is a place that offer you tranquality, quite place, nice sorrounding ( you should totally try to explore Daisen temple and ogamiyama jinja just at the backyard of sanrakuso) . I am not really a fan of vegan food but their vegan burger is super delicious.

I stayed at Sanrakuso for four nights. I don't speak japanese and the very kind proprietors don't speak almost any English. Dinners were great, especially the first night, with about ten different mushrooms all delicious. I thought breakfast would also be vegetarian, and it wasn't, and this surprised me, and I was sorry I couldn't talk to the owners about it.  My room was great, though like the place in general, in need of some TLC attention.  

This hotel is run by the same folks who run Daisenji Temple- it's a spectacular traditional Japanese experience with a few modern amenities thrown in to make it a bit more enjoyable.  Meals for dinner and breakfast were 100% vegetarian, but were thorough and spectacular. All the right proteins needed for a big hike the next day were still there.  Rooms are all very traditional, though views are only as far as the neighbouring trees.  A nice ofuro or onsen is included in your stay, though the shared bathroom is the one inconvenience that is left to be desired.  The staff and the monk who runs this place is friendly and gracious in their hospitality, though the rate is quite high given that the ofuro and some of the hotel aspects are aging and showing many years of wear and tear.   Daisen town seems to be completely void of any form or nightlife, so take this place if you're looking for some peace and quiet and a good head start on Chugoku's highest peak.  if you need more, Yonago is pretty close by and has lots of lively options.
