極上の貸切り風呂を巡り、真っ当で美味しい食事をいただき、リフレッシュしました。さらに、スタッフの方々の何気ない立ち居振舞いや　さりげない一言から　人としての品の良さや誠実さに触れ、心の捻挫も癒していただきました。
お金で買えない幸せがあるように、薬では治らない体調やメンタルには、連泊しての現代湯治が良く効きます‼️。 
 湯治宿なので、騒ぎたい人や便利さや豪華さを求める人には不向きです。

The welcome and quality of care here is extraordinary. From the moment we arrived (someone from the ryokan met us at the station even though we hadn’t told them exactly when we were arriving), through the exquisite food prepared with local ingredients, the small touches (moving our son’s bed, while we were eating, to give him more privacy), through to the gorgeous Onsen, some of them outdoors amid fabulous scenery, this was a magical experience.

The onsen offers a complete Japanese experience. The onsen water is vrey invigorating and there are plenty of options for Westerners who are not happy with the mixed bathing. The traditional Japanese evening meal and breakfast are a delight - although fermented beans go beyoun most Westerners tastes. A tea ceremony in the Forest House was the crown of our visit.

A warm welcome, wonderful food, a hot soak amongst trees and flowers, kind and friendly staff--this is a wonderful relaxing experience I heartily recommend. I stayed here (get off the train at Naruko Gotenyu station) and walked to Naruko to shop for its famous wooden kokeshi folk art. The entire town was kind and friendly. There are toilets in the main Naruko Onsen station. Be sure and visit the local Naruko Onsen coffee shop, too. If you need a ride, there is a kokeshi-themed taxi company. The taxi can take you to the kokeshi museum, which is a bit far. It's walkable if you are a hiker and it's not too hot outdoors. The Onuma ryokan hotel has been in the same family for 6 generations. Staying there was a wonderful ryokan experience, one you should do in Japan, rather than stay in a generic hotel. It's a traditional room with a tatami floor and comfortable futon beds. Tea in the room. Toilet room nearby. Don't hesitate if you are not fluent in Japanese, the staff are welcoming and will help you. Suitable for the solo female traveler. The food is incredible, and a great opportunity to enjoy the best of traditional Japanese food. There are many baths to choose from, and most, if not all, are private, so you can soak alone or with family. You will feel very comfortable and relaxed during your stay.

A truly five star experience

A great experience

The best!

This is a motel style inn situated in a tiny deserted street by a railway station. Definately not a tourist destination. I’m baffled by the previous reviews of this place. The hotel is old (100 years +), but not really in a charming way. The onsens are old and in rusty tiled bathrooms. The inn has a spooky haunted vibe. The ‘town’ that it is in, isn’t even a town, it’s a tiny street by the railway station that features nothing but a liquor store and a souvenir shop. There’s nothing to do or see around the inn if you don’t have a car. However there’s nothing wrong with the food or the service or the cleanliness of the place. It was just not at all what I expected after looking at their website or reading previous reviews. Just know what you’re signing up for! No need to go out of your way to go to this place. When I chose it I was trying to avoid overly crowded tourist destinations but it turns out I look us too far off the grid.
