Excellent stay over choice for us before heading to cat island Tashirojima. It is one JR station before Ishinomaki - but the warm hospitality made up for it! A cute inn with indoor & outdoor cats to warm up our trip before cat island. We had an EXCELLENT fresh sushi - sashimi meal in a local restaurant about 7 mins walk from tama hotel. Not much English spoken but looks like the restaurant is patronised by celebrities. There’s a 7-11 also about 7 mins walk away for late night snacks). We stayed on the ground floor - the description says 11m but it is closer to 3x the size! Big family room with separate bath and toilet & sink, kitchen (fridge), massage chair and even a hot foot bath in our room! It feels more like an airbnb style. We were driven to the ferry terminal in the morning & picked up and dropped off at the JR station with our luggage at no extra cost - a pastry thrown in - so grateful for the service! (It’s worth tipping them for going out of their way to be hospitable imo). So if you are headed to cat island looking for a comfortable night stay, look no further. Support the local businesses and enjoy!
