Sakunami Onsen Katakuri-no-Yado

We visited Sendai in the middle of winter and had booked this hotel blindly on the internet. Having serious doubts about how we could get to the hotel from the train station we asked for help with the hotel manager Mr Ito. He was too kind and obliged to pick us up from Sakunami train station with a mini bus even though it was very late at night. Got to our room and we had the most pleasant surprise. It was spacious, clean and mattresses neatly laid out on the tatami floor. It was already warm and cosy when we got inside the room. Very well thought of when it was minus degrees outside. Man and woman had their own spa area. Each had both indoor and outdoor spa pools and shower space. They were clean, comfortable and well equipped. We stayed there for 3 nights and Mr Ito kindly drove us to and from the station every day with a simple phone call, free of charge. I have never had such good service from any hotel in my life. If we ever visit Sendai again, we will definitely stay in this lovely place.
