We stayed one night at Echigoya and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a large double room with one for sleeping/eating and the other for lounging with neat warming table you could sit at. The meals were superb especially dinner with fish. Host was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived after walking over the Torii Pass and left the next day via train (short walk to station) to Matsumoto. The only downside for some might be the train tracks that are out the back door. We didn’t find it an issue but really light sleepers might. Not sure any accommodation would be better do the town layout. Highly recommended. Our best accommodation stay in Japan - a worthwhile splurge!
