Stellar onsen experience. The asthetic of the river below makes this a superb ryoken. Food was excellent. The private open pool you've seen in all the photos is what you've come for!! The only thing less than 5 star is it not set in the absolute woods. It's fairly isolated, but there are some other onsens nearby, including a large, out-of-business and empty one across the river. Nontheless, I would go back in a heart-beat.
