Business Hotel Prince

I was walking the Henro pilgrimage in Shikoku, and had reached a point where I could not reserve any convenient hotels in the area that I was walking through. I happened upon B.H. Prince, by chance, and was very impressed with all I was offered. A clean, modern single room with private modern w/c & shower, plus a Furo type hot tub. Clean towels, one quite large by Japanese standards, hangers, hair dryer etc in fact everything supplied that the run of the mill Ryokans don't. It made a pleasant change to be able to shower when I wanted to, and eat in a time range that suited me, and not the owner. The food was excellent, with a different theme to the generous main meal each night. Breakfast was a little smaller but enough to start the days walking. I was averaging 20K a day, so the laundry and tumble dryer (300¥) was very welcome. Although near to a main road, in Takamatsu City, my room was quiet with little street noise to bother me. And with the railway station 15 minutes away it was a perfect base for my three days of walking to and fro the local temples. The owner, Kunita-Ka San and his wife are a very nice couple, helpful and welcome Westerners even those that don't speak English. An app on the smart phone catered with most of our translated talks, but it wouldn't have mattered if we didn't have the app as they are genuinely accommodating. I paid about 6,000¥ per night (by credit card which is also rare in Shikoku) for room dinner and breakfast which, after spending 60 nights in different places here in Shikoku, I can assure you is a good price for this high standard. Can't recommend it enough.
