Yuyu Pippu

We did a day trip to Sounkyo Gorge from Asahikawa City and spent a night here on the way back.. What a huge surprise! They only have twenty plus rooms. As a party of 4, we were assigned to a 16-tatami-room which could accommodate at least 8 people. The whole place is new and very clean. The room is exceptionally spacious and nicely decorated with its own bathroom. They have a public onsen. Not one of those huge spas, but quite big. We picked the most expensive meal plan which is Kaiseki. Presentation is quite nice and the quantity of food just drowns you. However, I didn't find their cooking very special. I would advise going with the regular meal plan instead of paying extra for the Kaiseki. Breakfast was all right, but you have a choice of western or Japanese. A most enjoyable experience.
