We stayed one night at the Waldorf Osaka , because I had a free night certificate which was about to expire than three nights at the Doubletree Osaka Castle. Sure there was a big difference in the room size, but the quality was just as good. The Doubletree Osaka is about the standard size room you would get in New York City. The beds were actual American double size beds so you could actually sleep 4 in a room ( if you don’t mind squeezing into a smaller room. The Waldorf room was 2x the size at 2x the price. Of the 4 hotels we stayed at in Japan (Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Hilton Tokyo Bay, Waldorf Astoria, and Doubletree Osaka), this one had the least impressive spa with not hot and cold tubs or even a jacuzzi. If that is not important to you than this is a well maintained, and probably the nicest Doubletree I have stayed. It’s nice to see a well maintained Doubletree in an age when Hilton corporate has downgraded the brand since acquiring it from Promus Hotels 20+ years ago. I had never seen a hotel staff take so much care if the facilities. In the lobby two staff members scrubbing the carpet right after something must of spilled on it. The breakfast is served in the 6th floor restaurant and is quite nice, but after 3 days it became a bit stale for me as they served the same things everyday and lack many Western options. All in all a great place to stay.
