The property is about a 15 minute walk from the train station. Ask for directions at Omachi station first of all. The owners spoke very little English but they were very kind and welcoming. The owner even gave us a lift to Omachi station the following day.

I booked the pension at a last minute when I postponed my trip to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine. 

I put up a request for a pick up at Omachi station as the pension is 15-20 minutes drive away. Upon my arrival in the afternoon the next day, white-haired old couple were waiting for me, with my name on a card, at the station. They speak minimal English but we managed to communicate with short sentences. 

The lady owner (wife) asked me if I want dinner since the pension was in a remote area and there's no restaurant nearby. I asked her how much would the dinner be, she then murmured something to her husband but he didn't say anything. 

Upon arrival, I realized that I was the only guest at the pension. I was given a room on the upper floor. The washroom is shared but I didn't really mind since I was the only one using it. 

I was shown around the wooden house and offered a tea. The place has a living area, a coffee corner and a dining hall. It is very homely and the owner has a large collection of manga (Japanese comic books). They also have a 13-year old feline, named Hari. 

I walked around in the woods before feeling a bit chilly and going back to the pension to rest. At 5.30pm, I heard a knock on the door and was told dinner was ready. I was pleasantly surprised with the food served. The dinner comprised of appetizers, salad, fish miso soup, steamed fish & mushroom in foil, chicken with tomato sauce and melted cheese, soba with vegetable tempura, rice and ice cream. It was delicious.

After dinner, the wife taught me how to make origami. It was quite interesting and not so easy to learn. 

I took a bath, located on the ground, in the late evening as the bath is only open till 10pm. The water smelled a bit funny, maybe because of the chlorine, and it had many insects in it. I am not sure how often the water is changed. 

Just before going to bed, I was asked what time I would need to leave the pension in the morning. I told them I want to catch the 1st bus at 8am, therefore I would need a ride at 7.30am. The lady owner then said she won't be preparing breakfast then since it's quite early. I told her it's ok since I could get something to eat at the station.

The next morning, the wife knocked at my door asking if I needed help with my luggage. The car was ready for me at 7.30am sharp. 

Overall, it was a pleasant stay at the pension, though it's a bit remote. If you plan to stay for a few days, then I would advise you to go for the dinner & breakfast plan unless you drive. Otherwise you would need a taxi, if you can even get one, to go into town to get food.
