Great traditional Royokan conveniently right next to the Ski Centre. Staff very friendly and place well kept and clean. Breakfast was delicious too, will be back again :)

We absolutely loved our stay at Ryokan Kawahiro.  Wonderful service, amazing Japanese breakfast and futons were really comfortable.  Thankyou for having us.

My partner and I stayed here for 6 nights in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was very traditional accomodation so if you are wanting something more western this isn’t for you however we really enjoyed the experience. The beds were traditional, on the floor, and there was shared toilets and a shared onsen for bathing. The beds were very comfortable, rooms had good heating and very big cupboards for storing suitcases etc which was convenient. 
The toilet was shared but only between the level so only 3 rooms sharing. The onsen was the only option for bathing so if you are not comfortable with using the shared onsen (female and male separated) probably book something with a private shower. My partner and I were originally unsure about the onsen but it ended up being one of our favourite parts of the trip. So refreshing and most of the time no one else was in there or people were leaving when you were arriving anyways. 
The location was fantastic, right next to the ski centre (30m) and the cafe next door was great for a morning cappuccino. The ryokan breakfast was included and it was really good, it allowed us to try foods we probably wouldn’t have otherwise and the cooking was really good. The staff were also all very lovely and helpful. 
The accommodation was very close to town, less than 10min stroll to the Main Street. I would absolutely stay here again if I wanted to ski in Nozawa. Loved it!!

Amazing location, great japanese breakfast right in front of the slopes. Sleeping on tatami mats was more confortable than expected. The town is amazing, but with the type of crowd it feels a little bit like Aspen or Jackson Hole in the US...great views of the valley and the sea from the top of the mountain.

The staff working here were excellent. Drying room is large and easy to access. We didn’t really use the Onsen since we wanted to try out some of the ones around town. The hallways are chilly, but this is completely acceptable in such a large building. We had a nice view from the room and plenty of space. Good temperature control in the room. Being right in front of the gondola was awesome. Breakfast was great.

We were welcomed warmly by the lovely hosts (good English speakers too which helped), even being allowed into our rooms (we just expected luggage drop) a few hours before check-in. Delicious Japanese and western breakfasts, clean and relaxing onsens.  Location perfect, right next to slopes (handy in Spring when no snow in village but still a snowy outlook onto slopes), ski lifts (can buy lift tickets here) and shuttle to other ski lifts and ski school.  Quick walk down to village for restaurants, shops and onsens.  Uphill walk home was quick (the quicker the better to warm us up!).  Rooms were traditional Japanese so only table and cushions and futons (a little thin, but there were ample doonas and cushions to pad up) on tatami mats which was a good traditional experience and we weren't hanging around in the room much (too much skiing, eating, shopping and bathing to do!).  Next door to ski hire shop with discount for hotel guests.  Craft beer bar and restaurants nearby.  Would definitely stay here again.  Hopefully return to Nozawa Onsen again very soon!

Location is awesome across from the main Nagasaka gondola.  The rooms are very basic by western standards.   The dining experience at the Ryokan is excellent.   The owner and his son are very kind and helpful.

This lodge is literally 30 metres from the main gondola up the mountain. At lunchtime (which is a bargain at about 1000 yen for a huge bowl of noodles or rice with meat) you can ski straight to the door and walk in boots on. Onsen small but nice and staff were incredibly helpful. They have English speaking staff from overseas and even some very good English speakers in the restaurant serving area. Breakfast also very good, and despite them serving a traditional Japanese dinner we didn’t feel hungry enough after breakfast and lunch. Of course the rooms are tatami mats, and sleeping on the floor, but have safe, TV and small table with cushions for resting. It’s better to stay at the mountain and walk the 5-10 minutes into town without ski gear than the other way round. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay here. Great breakfasts, great location for skiing and not far into the middle of the village. Lovely hosts, love the onsen. We would stay here again.

Great stay! Lovely staff, food and fantastic location

Nozawa Onsen Kawahiro

Simple but comfortable Japanese-style lodging just a few steps from the gondola.
There was no common area, so as we were travelling with a group we all tended to squeeze into one room to chat at the end of the day, which was very cosy! Shared toilets and big communal baths (lovely!) which were only available at certain hours (annoying).  Breakfast is included and always had a mix of dishes so everyone found something they liked.
I thought this was excellent value for the price and the location couldn't have been better!

Great location 

I ate lunch here on day two of my ski holiday, it is located below the Nagasaka Gondola and it was a well run restaurant. It busy the night we dined and the front of house staff were friendly and very helpful. I had there Soba Pork Soup main and beer. The dish was good, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to all.

Only stayed 3 nights (wish we stayed longer). Traditional Japanese style large bedrooms, shared toilet and bathroom facilities.  Bathrooms has its own hot spring onsen and traditional shower facilities - amazing after a day on the slopes.  Breakfast is japanese but a pleasant change and experience.  They have a public restaurant which is open for lunch and by reservation for dinner.  Location is perfect for skiing (opposite Gondola Station). Cannot fault this lovely Family Inn.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Arigatou Gozaimasu !
