Iwasu Onsen Ryokan Iwasuso

We loved this traditional royokan. It feels like it is in the middle of no where but luckily our sat nav found it. The decor is very dated, but it is spotlessly clean, comfortable and the family and staff are wonderfully hospitable. Just enough English is spoken to get by. We chose our meal during the day for the evening and I was amazed to find they produced vegetarian meals with no problem. Nothing was too much trouble. Choice of onsen - male and female, 2 private ones which you could use if they were free and an outdoor one you could book. We had our own transport, but a minibus is available to get you to the nakansendo walks or pick up / drop off at the station. Relaxing and peaceful
