Amazing, the place has all you need and owners are very friendly and helpful.

Amazing stay

The hostel was designed in a very interesting style and the personal was super kind and always ready to help. They also have a bouldering room in the hostel that you could use for free. The hostel also was just 10 minutes away from the big Tempel. I have nothing to complain about !

Very interesting and good location

We were there during peak season (winter time), so we paid a steep price for it. Here are some pros and cons of staying here that I would like to share:

Pros:
1. There are many convenience stores nearby
2. One famous bakery just right beside the hostel, and I highly recommend to try their pecan nut and apple pies
3. 10-minute walk from the Nagano station
4. Friendly staffs
5. Overall cleanliness is acceptable

Cons:
1. The room gets pretty cold at night despite the heater is turned on
2. The pillow and bed are too soft
3. The whole place is not well-lit and gets pretty dark at night
4. The kitchen is too cold despite the gas heater is provided
5. Toothbrush, toothpaste and bath towel are not provided, but you can get them with additional charge
6. Creaky floorboards and doors

Not a comfortable stay yet a nice experience

it is ok for me. the room is clean. the bathroom is clean too. The lady dorm is 4 persons but this time i stay alone. it is ok for me.

It's a nice place. It's close to the temple and there's a 7/11 on the other side of the street. The bar on the ground floor is pretty cool and you got a discount for a drink as a hostel guest. There's also a boulder wall. The kitchen was not very well decorated. The oven was powered by gas. Pasta with sauce is just enough. We were in the room with the double bed. You could close it from the outside with a small curtain lock. Inside you could only loose a hook. This one fell out in the night and the door jumped because other guests were untied against the door. We fixed it with small hooks. In Japan, the price was even the worst, and the hotel was not even in the right proportion.

Price performance is not correct

World Treck is a cool place! The owner has collected really beautiful stuff from his travels around the world and has decorated the restaurant with the items, often in a very creative way. I loved the lobby/lounge/cafe. The capsule type dorm space was sufficient for sleeping. It was warm enough and clean but definitely seems like that part of the building is an afterthought compared to the cafe. It's obvious that a lot of effort went into creating and decorating the cafe but not a lot went into the rooms. They are very basic, pretty much pressed wood cubes with a light mounted in them. I'm hoping that is only because they are works in progress and eventually they too will be given some character. Either way the space serves its purpose for sleeping. The bed was comfy and the sheets and comforter were nice. The Thai curry made by Mass was great and the menu is diverse. The staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend World Treck.

Beautiful restaurant, basic accommodations.

Not comfortable at all, and still a steep price. We paid 100 euro a night and paid less in Kyoto Kanazawa and Hiroshima which were far better places. The beds in de dormitory are composed capsule-like with no finishing, just plain plywood. It is very dark inside. We slept in another room with just a double bed in it, the matras has a dunk in the middle of the bed. The room is not lockable, only from the outside with a padlock. There's dust everywhere. The douche is rusty, it's a former capsule douche but now there's a curtain before it which clings to your body while showering, the jet of the douche is to the wall and non adjustable, and cold water is dripping from the fawlty rainshower overhead. Towels cost an extra fee.

If you don't care for comfort, go here

Probably the worst hostel I stayed in while in Japan. The room are a series of plywood boxes with mattresses inside. The hostel has a bar/ restaurant downstairs so there is no actual common space for the hostel itself. The bar is eclectic, however there was never anyone in there at night. Almost no one else was staying at the hostel, which probably contributed to the lack of atmosphere. Might be better in the winter ski season?
