Villa Mon Repos

This has been an amazing experience. The host picked us up from the station to bring us to the beautiful villa. 
It is a family run lodge and you are treated like family your whole stay. They helped with recommendations, lift passes, meals and lifts into town even know it only a short walk.
We couldn't find a lift to our next destination when we were checking out and our host help arrange a transfer as public transport was difficult.
The hosts went above and beyond continuously, the villa is lovely and cosy and the food they provide is amazing. 
We will definitely be comming back.

If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place to be. This lodge has been in operations for over 40 years. Kaz and Moko, the hosts, are amazing. They're very kind, helpful and hospitable. They make us feel at home. Their Nepalese staff, Kaji, has conquered the Everest 4 times enchanted us with amazing stories of the Everest. 

Food is delicious, (especially the Japanese curry!) Breakfast is a real treat and always beautifully presented. Kazu's mum's homemade blueberry and apple conserve are to-die for! 

Lovely sitting by the fire at night after a long day on the slopes. Great views too. 

The lodge is spotless. Good sized rooms with comfy beds. We stayed for 10 nights in both the ensuite special room and family room with separate washrooms. 

Guests can get discounted lift tickets from the owners. 

It is about 10-15 minutes walk to the main town area. 

It isn't just the lodge and location on the slopes that sold us, it is Kaz's warmth and kindness, and his family, that have truly carved a very special place in our hearts. We've had terrific time and will be back!

A perfect, affordable, family run chalet. Being my first time in Japan, Kazu was the friendliest host to our group who offered to help every chance he got. Whether it was picking us up from the train station on arrival, receiving forwarded baggage, organising various reservations (dinners, massages etc.), offering a shuttle service when possible or even helping us with logistics from Myoko to Tokyo during a blizzard!

The location is amazing, slightly out of the main drag of Akakura, but a short enough walk that it’s not a hassle to walk into town. Ski in/ski out of Akakura Kanko and you can ski down to the main shuttle area of the town which accesses every other ski area of Myoko.

I had such a positive experience here it’s hard to even look anywhere else when I decide to come back to Myoko!

I can’t say anything disappointed me in the least. Highly recommend to any respectful guest! 



Booked Villa Monrepos for 3 nights very last minute for a quick get-away. This poperty is absoulutley outstanding! Where to start? The location is perfect. Ski-in ski-out yet still and easy walk into town. The owner picked us up from the train station without any fuss even after we changed our pick-up a few times. Owned and run by the same local family for over 40 years and they make you feel like one of the family. Make sure you have dinner atleast once and it is an absolute must. 10 delicious traditional courses cooked by mum costing about $25AUD. 
We stayed in a traditional room on comfy tatami mats. The room was large, very comfortable and had amazing views over the ski runs just outside your door. Cozy fireplace and little bar was a welcome sight after a day skiing. Really enjoyed having a drink and looking over the ski run with the fire going in the background while your dinner was being prepared. Heaven!! Bathrooms were perfectly clean and even had a private onsen downstairs. Large ski storage and tuning area that leads directly onto the main run ander the gondola. 
I love this place! Such a beautiful family that run this little gem. If you want excellent value for money in a traditional villa in a perfect location with amazing food and service then don't hesitate to book Villa Monrepos

Our recent 11 day stay here was a wonderful experience. It's more of a lodge than a hotel where you ski or snowboard from the door to the gondola that takes you up the mountain. We were very comfortable in the suite with a private onsen bathroom and lounge. Kazu and Moko are wonderful hosts who are ably supported by Kaji, their Nepalise assistant who has summited Everest twice. Nothing is too much trouble, including transport to the train station and other ski fields in Myoko. We especially enjoyed the Japanese cuisine prepared by Kazu's mother. Breakfast was a real treat and the degustation dinner put on for our group was truly memorable. We are very much looking forward to returning next year.

We had a wonderful 6 days staying at Villa Monrepos. It was in a perfect location for skiing in and out. The family who owns & runs the accomodation were fabulous, warm, friendly and helpful. They looked after us with wonderful food - Japanese & european,  and clean & tidy bedrooms & bathrooms. The shared bathrooms were not an issue - just like a NZ Ski hut! Jerry our guide found us a winner!

I had a wonderful time here. In total I stayed in four hotels in Japan and this one was the most enjoyable - the place itself has a lovely feel and the hosts are amazing. 

The ski in and out facilities, the home made food and the open living spaces where you can enjoy a lovely fireplace and interact with other guests (most of whom seem to  have been guests at the place several times before). I'm sure I will be back again to this lovely villa in the beautiful myoko kogen.

I just returned home to Australia this morning and can't wait for my next visit back to Villa Monrepos! Kazu, Moko and their family run an incredibly warm, friendly and impeccably clean lodge. The staff did absolutely everything they could to make our stay just perfect and were always on hand to answer a question, give advice, or drive us somewhere - although not a far walk into town (about 10mins). The atmosphere is just so homely and friendly with all guests mingling with each other. It is also ski in/out with the piste near the gondola running straight past the lodge. I don't normally like returning to the same place on holidays but I'm counting down the days until next season when I can return to Akakura Kanko and Monrepos!! Kazu and Moko (and family and Kasi), doumo arigatou gozaimasu!!
