Young Inn Matsue

There are some downsides to this hostel. First the hostel and the its are two separate buildings. The reason why it doesn't do check-ins until 4pm is because the reception is a bar/restaurant. Also the bathrooms aren't as clean as you would hope them to be. And unless you have an account with SoftBank, free wifi wil only be available from the restaurant. That being said, the hostel is in a great location; it is within a 15 minute walk of all the major tourist attractions in the area including Matsue Castle, Matsue history Museum, several shrines and the Shimane Prefectural Art Museum. The room I had was quite quiet (being in a separate building from the restaurant and all) and I honestly had two good night sleeps. The shower can only be used from 4pm to midnight, but shampoo and bodywash is included.The owner is quite friendly, and so are his friends that were there on my second night. Spent most of the night with them and I had a great time! The restaurant might be dimly lit, but there is good jazz music playing in the background the whole time. Speaking of jazz, the owner himself is quite the musician and played us a couple songs of his own with a saxophone he borrowed from one of his friends.
