On this trip we (2 adults and 1 child) stayed at the Hoshinoya Otemachi and the Four Seasons in Tokyo and the Marriott in Osaka and enjoyed staying with Yoko in Kyoto the most! It is a real Japanese ryokan in a 130 year old building. Walking distance to Nijo Castle and the Imperial palace, and maybe 300 feet from entrance to metro (though the Kyoto subway is nothing like the labyrinth of Tokyo) Yoko was super helpful and kind to our family and we will always be grateful to her for making us feel like we were really in Japan. PS—our family is fortunate that we have the time and money to travel and have stayed at countless hotels (106 countries over 40+ years, you do the math) and as you can see from my profile, I rarely post reviews. But since tipping is frowned upon in Japan, even considered rude, I am taking the time from our vacation to write this review as our way of saying “Ōkini” to Yoko for everything.
