The owner Kiyoko San is such a heart warming host. She made me feel very welcome and helped out with everything I needed. Very much recommend her place if you want to experience Iriomote and Japanese hospitality. Arigato goseimasu!

My partner and I stayed for two nights and loved it at Irumote So! The room was spacious, the hosts are so lovely, and the hostel is equipped with everything you need. The rooftop patio was a beautiful place to watch the sun set. It’s a little far from town but the hosts will pick you up and drop you off from the ferry terminal. There’s a restaurant nearby which was great for dinners both nights. 10/10 would recommend to anyone staying in Iriomote.

The hostel is very nice and comfortable, but what makes the real difference is the kind and welcoming touch of the hosts.Yoriko-san, the manager, cared greatly about us (especially about my pregnant wife) and provided tons of useful info about potential activities to do.The other lady picked us from the ferry terminal and brought us back.We are sorry for having you worried Yoriko the night that our cell phones died! Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

Great sea views, a bit aside the village but not far away. Beatiful nature (be careful of bats and boars in the night). Great spot for stargazing and sun-set.Keiko is amazing and joyful host and helps you with everything. Including on-spot tour guide reservations.

Stayed here a few nights back in April 2019 the host Kiyoko was incredibly helpful, and even sent me a postcard afterwards. I had a wonderful trip into the forest with them to see the glow worms. It might seem up a hill and further from the coast but this gives you a gorgeous view of the boats coming and going as you relax back in the hammocks in the wonderful peaceful garden. 

My favourite hostel in 6 weeks of travelling all over Japan, and that's from Hokkaido to Okinawa, to Tokyo and Kyoto etc. A wonderful place to relax and when I was there they sorted any transfers I needed. I was also able to hire a small car which they helped with which was great. My room was a private Japanese style room.

I stayed at Irumoteso for six nights this past summer, and I cannot imagine staying in any other place on the island (unless, of course, you need to stay clear on the other side).  
The absolute highlight is the owner, Kiyoko. She knows the island like the back of her hand and can help you organize whatever you want. Almost my entire time in Ishigaki (3 nights alone and 3 nights with a friend) were planned by her. We simply told her what we wanted to do, or what kind of day we wanted to have (for example: ‘we want to take it easy on this day’, or ‘it might rain tomorrow, can you give us a plan B if it does?’) and she would outline everything for us. Her English is quite good, so don’t worry if you don’t speak Japanese. She’s very attentive and very easy to talk to. If you don’t have a car, she can help you plan your commute via the sparse Iriomote buses, and can even recommend places to eat.  She can also arrange all your tours for you. Many of our tour runners knew her well and have even stayed in her guesthouse over the decades! 
It’s especially useful if you’ve been doing most of your research online. While the internet and reviews can give you a good idea of how to plan your day, there’s nothing like a local who can tell you the nitty-gritty details and intricacies, and give you an accurate idea of how long something will take. Plus, she has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of all the ferry and bus timetables.
Kiyoko cooks all the meals; breakfasts are hearty and great for powering you in the morning, and the dinners (should you choose to purchase them) are all satisfying home cooking. Be sure to let her know if you have any food allergies or restrictions (I don’t eat fish, for example), and she will accommodate you.  
While the restaurants in the area are nice, I highly recommend taking the meal on long or busy days, so that you don’t have to worry about getting food or choosing a place to eat.  

I ended up staying in three different rooms (had to switch a couple of times for booking logistics reasons) and all three were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The larger suites are well-furnished, but you won’t find yourself wanting in the smaller suites, either. The default beds are futons on the floor, but there were fold-out beds in the rooms if you prefer a more western sleeping arrangement. The guesthouse has all the amenities you could need (though they do not give toothbrushes or paste if I remember correctly). You can even rent snorkeling gear or a bicycle to get around the island. We truly felt cared for; Kiyoko was like a guardian angel watching over our Iriomote trip. 

As a side note: if you are going to Iriomote without a car (or even with a car), be sure to get a lot of cash beforehand. As far as I know, there are only two ATMs on the island and are nearly impossible to get to without wasting a day if you don’t have a car. No combines here, so make sure that you’re well-prepared!

Kyoko is such a sweet lady! She and her son made us feel right at home. During our stay there was a typhoon, but even then they found something for us to do (riviercruise) and drove us there and picked us up. The homecooked meals were delicious! The oceanview from the room and garden is beautiful.

We stayed for 5 nights in Irumoteso.

- The host (Kiyoko) was the best we ever had. She was very friendly and profesional at the same time. She was very knowledgeable and helped us a lot  (car rental, tours, bus and ferry timetables etc..). She even gave us a lift to the port when we left. She also speaks English

- Dinners (cooked by Kiyoko) were amazing and absolutely delicious.  Very well presented and with a variety of different dishes.We were always looking foward to eat there ! Breakfasts are also good. 

- The property is on a hill overlooking the sea  with a nice garden. Perfect place to relax. The property is very clean and cosy. There is a lot of information displayed ( maps, timetables for buses and ferry etc..). There is a bus stop nearby and plenty of places  explore nearby on a bike so car rental is not essential. It is also close to the port.

- Our room (tatami) was super big and clean. There was a fridge also and A/C. Matress and pillows very comfortable.

- We rented the bikes for a day and it was a very nice experience .

In conclusion we loved this place!! Thanks for hosting us Kiyoko-san.

The stay was amazing, very relaxing place for depressed traveller. I specially came here to scape from all the stress from work and was really chill. The owner was very helpful and kind. Would definitely recommend this place for people who likes to stay clise with nature

Simply the best place to stay with an outstanding host.

Amazing place and host

Very nice place to stay.  Highly recommend for group of friends or couple.
The room is clean and tidy with great view. 
Much bigger than other Japan hotel we stay.                 
The host and staff are very helpful and caring.                    
They offer pick up from pier and help us to book for the day tour with very good price.  
Also give great advice for planning our trip during stay.     
The dinner are delicious and recommend to book during stay.      
Nearby is also have great place for dinning.     
The location is about 20 mins walk to the pier event with no car.
