We have never stayed at a hotel like yours, an authentic Japanse style with wonderful hot springs. Especially, wewere impressed with gorgeous breakfast sitting around Irori.

If I could give a 100/10 for the hospitality I would. The owner is very kind and helpful. We had a pleasant day in Kamikochi thanks to her advise and the special breakfast they prepared for us.The room is extremely spacious.

From the moment we arrived, we knew our stay at this ryokan would be a memorable one. It's hard to put into words just how enchanting our experience was, but we'll do our best to capture the highlights.The breakfast was nothing short of amazing. We had the pleasure of dining in our own private, traditional room, where we were served a delightful assortment of small dishes. Each morning, we eagerly looked forward to the variety of flavors and textures that awaited us.The room was quite spacious, well-equipped, and clean.Dinner at the hotel was a culinary adventure that we highly recommend. The carefully crafted menu featured a tantalizing array of local dishes. It was a dining experience that we won't soon forget!The onsen was another highlight of our stay. However, it was the exceptional service and the genuine warmth of the hostesses that truly set this ryokan apart. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, attending us with genuine smiles and ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect.

My mom and I visited Furusato 故鄉 at Fukuji Onsen 福地温泉 on July of 2019 for two days.  We truly felt welcomed in this Ryokan and had the most wonderful time there.  

This well-kept property is located off the main road, so it was very quiet and peaceful.  The rooms are spacious and clean, and the decors are authentic/traditional Japanese without being too overly ornate.  The hot spring there is about 40 degree C which is 1-2 degree lower than typical onsen. Given that it was July, it was the perfect temperature and allowed us to truly relax in the hot spring for a long time.  Breakfast was delicious with lots of varieties, we have no doubt dinner would've been even better (but we didn't include dinner in our reservation). 

We also must mention the ryokan's okami (Azusa) whom we have become good friends in such short period of time.  She speaks fluent English and is very sincere, caring, and go above and beyond to make sure we felt at home.  Our experience wouldn't have been the same without her cheerful smiles. 

When I decided to book this hotel, I didn't know what to expect because based on the reviews, it wasn't as well known as 湯元 長座 ，元湯 孫九郎，隠庵 ひだ路...etc.  After spending two days there, I can say it far surpassed all of my expectation and I'm very glad to have chosen this place.  Both my mom and I hope one day in the future we would be able to visit again.

I would highly recommend this place for everyone who wants to explore the old living of Japan. The people who works their are very service minded and will do everything to make the best of your visit.

Visited Furusato in Nov when it was rather quite and only a few other guests were staying.  We almost kept the indoor and outdoor onsen bath all to ourselves, so was the public area, such as cafe and Manga corner.  They even have 2 private open-air baths which you can book in advance for an hour for your private use for free of charge so that you can share with your partner.  (Public ones are not unisex.) Food was very good and included all the usual trimmings such as Sashimi, Tenpura.  But the best was Robata-Yaki which you can grill your own fish and a lovely local beaf called "Hida-gyu" at the special table.  They even made "onigiri" using our left over rice for our late supper, even though we were too full to enjoy it later on.  It is a very traditional and spacious ryokan and their services were fantastic.  There is a morning market in the village (only a couple of mintues walk) and sell all the locally grown vegitable and fruits as well as their local craft etc which is the worth visiting.  I think they are closed during the winter as heavy snow will prevent you from getting there.  Highly recommended!

Furusato offered us a fantastic Ryokan experience that you could ever imagine. As we didn’t order dinner and breakfast in advance, they booked a nearby izakaya for us, which turned out to be as amazing as it could be. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The outdoor onsen is so beautiful and comfortable. This is the first time I’ve been to Japan, and Furusato offered everything a Ryokan could offer. There is also a morning market where you can buy souvenirs next to Furusato. Our car window was frozen in the morning, and their staff poured hot water onto it to defrost it. They bowed until we left. This is the best experience out of the 9 nights we stayed in Japan.
