Shirakawago Terrace

Our stay in Shirakawago was made extra special and unique when we decided to stay the night at Shirakawago Terrace! What a remarkable and unforgettable experience it was. Firstly, the property is very close to the Shirakawago Bus Station and therefore makes it super convenient as a base if you intend to stay the night which I highly recommend. Next, the check-in process was so smooth and quick! Our hosts Sunil and Tomo-San who spoke perfect English greeted us with warm smiles and kindness which were felt immediately as we entered! They were really welcoming and approachable and throughout our stay, conversing with us and made us feel incredibly connected. Sunil even walked us to our dinner location which was so sweet and wonderful of him. Both Sunil and Tomo-San were so flexible in letting us check-in before 2pm which is rare and we were so appreciative that we could have our bags in our beautiful family room which had an attached bathroom and terrace! What a treat it was for us! Having a terrace was important for us as a family because we love the outdoors and that just gave us the extra space to sit outside listening to the birds and the flowing river which was phenomenal. There were free drinks in the fridge in our room and there were descriptions, maps and information on the coffee table regarding what the area had to offer. Suggestions were made regarding dinner and lunch options which was fantastic and so thoughtful! The next day, we were allowed to check out a little later as our bus to Takayama was not leaving until past noon so instead of waiting at the bus station, they told us that although the check out time is normally at 10am but in this case, they were happy for us to check out a little later which once again shows how caring, flexible and kind they were as hosts which made a huge difference in our experience in Shirakawago. There was also free coffee/tea available throughout the day and an area where you can have access to hot water. If you would like to have a really amazing experience in Shirakawago and meet wonderful people with hearts of gold, you will need to start at Shirakawago Terrace and stay for a night so that you can be fully immersed in the beauty and culture of the place which is unlike any other in the world!
