Awesome stay. We had fun. Been there more than one. My only draw back was the pool. Seem to not well maintain. The rooms were a little outdated.  The "keeper" (A gentleman( was very receptive and accommodating. He fulfilled all my siblings request to pull off my surprise birthday party. Great value for money.

Great Value for Money

The first room I was put in room 14 had the best air con system however after my first night the sink fell off the wall, I was just glad i wasn’t hurt in the process. I then had to request to move rooms as the lady just said she would call the owner, the second room the aircon was rubbish, the bed was ok but the general look of the room as rundown. The staff a lot of them were young and not very professional unless they were taking your money. 

Oh and the sheets that they put to hang out the back on the line that would end up on a bush or end up on the floor due to lack of pegs they put on. 

WiFi & Tv was very temperamental, and no matter how much food big or small they charge the same, and there was no menu the chef just told me I could have chicken, fish or shrimp. No patties, bun &cheese or any snacks on offer.  On one day i wanted porridge & they were still wanting to charge me $1000 like I was having big breakfast or their dinner and would not see my point or even try to reason. I would not stay again

Quite disappointed with the service and the quality of the room

Passing thru Black River and  deciding to stay over night in a once top of the line hotel was disappointed at the service and the room itself. Adouble room with 2 beds with one that seemed it was used before when I spoke to the receptionist she walked off.  Theroom in itself seemed like a usual hour shop and not a hotel. Not everyone that checks in wants to sell/buy. Was even contemplating sleeping in the car because we couldn't be on the road due to curfew.

Stayed here last night for one night only. Almost had a heart attack when I checked in and saw the condition of the room.  Stinky bathroom. Dingy nasty towel. Old lumpy mattress. Stuffy room. Old broken down furniture. Paint peeling off the wall. Air condition barely working and when it did it condensed so severely that small sheets of ice fell from it and onto the bed. Worst night spent in a hotel. I could go on and on. Couldn’t wait to leave.

This place is a dump.

We had high hopes for this hotel. I was told it was very nice at one time. I don't know where to start about our experience.
The lady at the desk during the day and waitress was very rude. Arguing and sucking her teeth when my husband spoke to her. He ordered 2 coffees in the morning and she brought 1..he said..i ordered 2..she said well this is 1..he said can I get another..after a eye roll and no reply she took off to get another. 
We asked for fresh towels and were told we only get them if we ask..aftsr a long wait..we were given another set of dirty towels. 
The toilet overflowed the entire time we stayed in room 12. The shower never had any hot water our entire stay..one day..there was no water. The sink never had more of a trickle of pressure which made teeth brushing challenging. I brought a bottle of water to help.
The ceilings are droopy..walls and door dirty..it seems that many of the rooms are rented a few hours or a night at a time if you catch my drift...
One morning half the staff were gathered in room 6..noone could explain where all the blood came from. I heard them saying a sheet a chair was soaked.

I'm certain I will never stay there again and am pissed that we paid money for that. Jamaica has wayyyyyy more to offer.

Bates motel might be better

Stayed here for two days and nights with a couple of friends this is a basic hotel with clean rooms and us suitable if your travelling around Jamaica and wish to stop of for a couple of days but the beauty of this hotel is the beach and the sea which jt has perfect access to the rear of the dining area if the hotel is set practically on the beach itself and you can step from your dining table onto the beach and into the sea it's actually perfect and the sea is so warm and inviting I found myself swimming in the sea at 4.30am it is worth staying at this hotel just for the beach and sea.

Beautiful beach 

It is perfectly located right on BR / Parrottee beach about 30 mins walk to the town centre (or catch a taxi for app. 150 JMD right outside the front entry), with romantic sunset views and a restaurant with a beautiful sight (I haven't eaten there though, except for breakfast, which is toast, coffee & cream + butter & jam or Jamaican style.) The rooms are a bit above local standard, as well as clean and comfy with TV, aircon / fan and hot water. Personnel and night guard are friendly Jamaicans. I ♥ their pool...!

Nice place to stay

This is about 3 kms from BR town. There are other restaurants within walking distance.
We didnt get off to a good start as the staff didnt get the email id cancelled my one night in a std room and changed it to three nights in a seaview. They did have a standard room available so i wasnt homeless. The room was tidy with en suite shower etc. 
The food was ok but prices shown on the menu are about hslf the avtual price. There'd been an increase but menu not changed, she did tell me. Maybe that explains why they were reluctant to show me the menu and tell me verbally.
There was a function on the two days i was there which meant that food was limited on xmas day and this wasn't explained -nothing much open in BR at that time. I felt like i was an intrusion and not condidered where i could sit during the function, eat before and after. I allowed that they were busy with the preps, but there was a lot of sitting around.
Some customer service training would benefit greatly. Including anticipating customer needs eg water. Its tiring having to ask for every little thing. And it's more efficient staff time-wise and makes good business sense.
Building built in 70s and not much has been done since then.
