When planning our trip, I had an excellent response from the host by email and also had one call with him regarding what was available and what we might need to bring - that was so helpful.  I am a vegan and travel with a non-vegan - and the food EVERYWHERE was amazing for us both.

John had good advice about car hire and roads - roads are pretty bad but easily traversible by car and we found the property OK with a combination of the host's carefully written directions and Google.  I was initially wary about hiring a car after reading various blogs and reviews on the internet - but it was fine - and an adventure in itself. The drive to the property is indeed very steep - but our little tiny automatic hire-car made it up without any problem - we just let it slowly tick its way up the hill. 

We had a truly wonderful 10 days at Caribbean Dawn - or even Caribbean Dreams as I like to think of it. 

There was an immense warmth about the place and a sense of comfort and contentment. The room was clean and had all the things we needed and it was lovely being able to breakfast on our private balcony at sunrise. We had the room with cooking facilities which was excellent - basic - but everything we needed - including a nice big fridge-freezer. The host had  kindly stocked the fridge for us - fruit and spice buns for breakfast and beer and coffee. This meant that after a long drive from the airport hotel we didn’t need to shop until the following day. 

The shared facilities and garden were a real pleasure to enjoy - beautiful view and a delicious breeze keeping the temperature at a Pool pleasant balmy level. On a couple of days the wind was up and a bit too windy to eat outside, but that’s why it’s great windsurfing. 

Boston Bay is a gentle rural village with excellent local food and vegetables and lovely welcoming people. We had no problem with the walk up and down the access road(two women with 58 and 60 years to our credit) and indeed would do it a couple of times a day sometimes. We felt confident walking down the road and back in the evening for supper - a torch is useful :-) It is quite steep but should be accessible for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.

Nearby Port Antonio has a great supermarket for drinks and staples, and a good petrol station with ATM's.

We also had many days of adventures - all wonderful and accessible - Reach Falls, Frenchman's Cove, Rafting on the Rio Grande, boat-ride with snorkelling round the coast, and also a great day out with our Host John on a wild adventure visiting Moran Point Lighthouse.

This was a wonderful, peaceful place to visit to relax, regroup and and reinvigorate - I did my yoga routine early morning by the pool and loved the sunrise. In the evening we watched the sun go down with our sun-downers!

We loved the casual energy and basic local vibes of both the village and the guesthouse - and the energies of the place.

There was comfort and cleanliness - and visitors should expect their basic necessities to be comfortably met. It is well suited to travellers with a basic level of fitness who are looking for adventure with some comfort. Yogis, wind-surfers and silver-haired active travellers will be all well-suited.

We ended the visit with a 2 day visit into the Blue Mountains - visiting a coffee plantation, National Park and some truly spectacular restaurants. This worked well.

For arrival and departure, we came into Kingston and stayed at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Port Royal Hotel overnight and hired the car from Kingston airport. This made things very easy logistically and we experienced wonderful food at Gloria's and visited the Fort. I would recommend the Port Royale Hotel - but set expectations for basic, convenient accommodation with an ocean front - it's definitely not 5 star - but we enjoyed it and the staff were very helpful. We also managed a day in Kingston, visiting the excellent National Art Gallery and Bob Marley House - both are thoroughly recommended.

Wonderful, peaceful, comfortable! 

I loved staying here! Wow, wow, wow the view is stunning! You never get tired of looking at it! Wake up, walk onto the deck and catch the sunrise. I stayed in the green room, it was super spacious, clean, and had all you need: coffee, pot, filters, kettle, plates, glasses, cutlery, and snacks. The local coffee and cookies were a nice treat! The wraparound deck with chairs and hammock, hang out there and watch the birds fly by and the waves roll in. I had a refreshing dip in the pool every day. At night, walk by the pool and enjoy the stars. You don’t see stars like that in the city! The comfy bed and cool breezes, I slept like a baby. I highly recommend Caribbean Dawn – plop down, relax and enjoy the irie vibes ❤️

Relax and enjoy the views!

I really couldn't recommend this place enough. It was much more than I expected. Stunning views, great host, fabulous location and most importantly it became a part of my vacation stay in Jamaica rather than being just a place to stay.
Before traveling to Jamaica all the way from Europe I have done a considerable amount of research.  Personally I like places a bit off the beaten path but with all the good amenities and with a great feel to them. Caribbean Dawn is all of that and more. It has spectacular views and our room had a wonderful balcony - from which I could say "Good morning" to a spectacular ocean view  - every morning with a cup of coffee. If you are planning on staying in Jamaica in a place that's both comfortable and special than this is the place for you. 5 stars.

The views are spectacular. The apartment was ready and spotless. The pool was always clean . The property manager was always willing to assist in anything i needed. Very friendly with the children # . Thanks again . Best spot in Port Antonio.Great location near absolutely everything. Easy to drive up and down !

Carbbean Dawn

I have now been to Caribbean Dawn twice and had an absolutely amazing time both visits! Jon (the owner), Jason, Kevin, and the rest of the crew are some of the most amazing hosts I have ever encountered. I can not recommend this highly enough. Go, go again, and go back a third time.

Perfect location, amazing view, wonderful hosts!

After staying in a Montego Bay resort, this was such a cool experience that encouraged its visitors to get out and explore their surroundings. The place has an unbelievable view overlooking Boston Bay. This is a special part of Jamaica that is a little more off the beaten path, but very much worth the visit. Would love to come back and try to go surfing. 

As far as the place goes, it has all you could need as far as amenities and it has a pool(!). Not a luxury resort, but a beautiful place that gives you a feeling of being home. Wake up to the sunrise, take a walk down to the beach, and get some jerk chicken sausage from Bumpy at the Boston Jerk Centre for lunch.

Unique Jamaican getaway

We look forward to our yearly trip, I stopped counting after ten years.  The view from above is always spectacular. We enjoy the sunrise with our morning coffee on the balcony.  Every year there are improvements, we really enjoyed the pool. JC is easy to deal with, Jason is very helpful.

Yearly trip

This was my 4th visit back to Caribbean Dawn..my home away from home. I cherish each visit and with each time I return I create new memories and a profound love of this place. I returned with a friend who also has developed a love of Caribbean Dawn. We stayed, as always in what I’d like to call our rooms (Blue & Brown)...beautiful views..comfy rooms..and my welcoming committee..the dogs and Jason/Kevin 😊 Thank you JC for a great relaxing month till next time..hopefully sooner than later!!

This is my 4th or 5th visit to Caribbean Dawn and it's become one of my favorite places on earth. The view is amazing and the property gets better with each visit. On this trip, I had a chance to bring down a few friends and had a dinner party on the property. Everyone loved it as much as I did.

My Happy Place

This is one of those places that sticks with you. The drive up and down the hill is always and adventure but well worth it. Between the view, the music and the breeze, you'll definitely feel like you're in another world.
