We stayed at the Paradise Clarridge Resort from January 22-25. When we showed up Diane greeted us at the door and showed us our room. The house is HUGE and very beautiful! The room itself was big with a great view of MoBay although after being there we did realize some issues...toilet was not hooked up when we first arrived, drain did not hold water for a bath, no hot water one night (although Dianne did fix it when we told her the next day), shower head did not stay in the holder, etc etc. Although none of these are big things, when you pay a big price for a resort I would expect not to have to deal with these type of things. Diane said she would let us get settled and if we needed anything she would be downstairs in her room.  We were the only people staying here at the time so we decided to go check out the town of Montego Bay.  We spent the next half an hour looking for Diane, or anyone who could let us know how we were supposed to get down the mountain.  After finally locating Diane she informed us that there was a driver there and it was $30 each way to go to town! Not much of a choice if we didn't want to be there for the night alone! :) We decided to have an early dinner and then head to town.  We waited and waited for dinner with no one in sight? Finally and hour and a half later our meal was served...good food but for $20 each we would have preferred to go out. After dinner the driver took us down the long bumpy mountain road and dropped us off on the "hip-strip" which basically is just a bunch of vendors waiting to pounce!  A bit scary! The next morning we had a nice american breakfast, eggs, toast, fruit, juice, coffee etc. Again, for $15 each we would have preferred to go out, but once you are there you don't have much of a choice. We did have some cooler weather while there so weren't much interested in the pool, but we may have used the hot tub, had it been functional.  It was not full or warm so we could not use that. My husband was going to go out for a run in the mornings but was informed not to go past this one area on the road??? Needless to say he did not go running. :) All in all...it was a nice place to stay...if you are looking for seclusion it is perfect! If you want to check out what the area has this is not the place for you.

Beautiful view...but to far away from everything!

I made a reservation for Paradise Claridge on 2/11 from 2/14-2/17. I then tried cancelling my reservation on 2/12 based on reviews I had seen on hotels.com. I was told I could not get a refund. When we arrived at the airport, there was no airport shuttle to the location as listed on their website. We had to hire a private car because buses cannot reach the hotel. The hotel is located in a rural part of Jamaica and there were many shanty houses. There was a car on cinderblocks with a missing tire when we got there. Another car with three flat tires. There was one man who took us to our room and we didn't see anyone else after that. There were various local men doing construction and he seemed to be part of the crew. For several hours we had no access to food or anything to drink. The hotel is located away from anything in walking distance although on their website it says its 10 minutes to the airport and 5 minutes to local shops. The internet did not work and the phone in the room had no dailtone. We were forced to call our service providers on our cell phones to get local plans and call the same private car to pick us back up and check into another hotel. During our brief stay, another party arrived in a rented car, saw the property and immediately left. We have several pictures showing the construction on the property and the real views and lack of amenties on this property.

Extremely misleading!

First let me say...WOW!! We arrived after a long drive up a hill and reached a gate. One of the staff let us in, a little farther drive and we arrived at the villa. The view alone took my breath away. I have some great shots, that will always make me smile!! We were greeted by Dian, who is a lovely person and she took us to our room which was HUGE. We booked for three people and there was more than enough room. It was clean and beautiful and again a stunning view!! Our friends brought us from Ochie and were able to hang out with us for a while, we drove downtown and got a few supplies and had a great last night, which happened to be my birthday as well!! The next morning Dian made a fabulous breakfast, eggs, callilou, fried dumplings, boiled bananas and toast. What a nice treat. I had a wonderful stay and would rave on and on about this place. A big shout out to Dian and the other staff members!!
