Imagine your perfect holiday apartment in Umbria! A 360 degree view of rolling hills dotted with vineyards, woods and copses, farms and castles? Maybe a barbecue to cook your "Fiorentina" rib of beef .... and then to enjoy your dinner sitting at a granite table under a pergola of pink wisteria with a bottle of red wine and a green salad? All with the same stunning view? Maybe a cool swimming pool you can dive into after a breakfast of fresh rolls with local butter and jam made in the big house? In all, a place so relaxing, you simply can't be bothered to get in the car and go discover all there is to see in the area. Well, that description of perfection is pretty much what you get at Mille Glicini. A place we stayed for a week or so in October last year (completely forgot the write up at the time) and where I am returning to again at the end of this month for quite some time! It's that good. The lovely medieval town of Spoleto is just a short drive away as are all the other Umbrian towns one has heard so much about. Rome is 1 1/2 hours and 9 Euros away by train! But it is the delight of returning up the hill to Mille Glicini (which by the way means a Thousand Wisteria!) which for us was the highlight of our stay. The apartments are comfortable with all the facilities you could need, and I imagine in the heat of the summer it is a real bonus to be on the top of a hill with a breeze. The owners are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. I c an thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for a country location with views to die for, not far from town, and looking for a self catering holiday. And, for what it's worth, the place is super dog friendly. Can't think of a nicer location to stay!
