139 reviewsWe cannot say enough great things about Locanda Ilune. Giovanni and Susanna have the most beautiful home and tastiest homemade breakfast. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and charming and the whole house is filled with their artistic touches. The breakfast was by far the best we have had anywhere in Italy and beautifully presented every morning. As a bonus, our children were in love with their 11 gorgeous and friendly cats. Despite being a rustic old farmhouse, everything is in perfect condition and the shower and plumbing are excellent - not at all what you might expect of a house this old. Giovanni was so helpful with reservations and recommendations. The town of Pitigliano and the surrounding Vie Cave and other hill towns are so beautiful and unique that I cannot believe they are not a UNESCO world heritage site and that nobody we know has ever heard of them. After the throngs of people in Florence we could not have been happier to arrive in sparsely touristed Pitigliano and our children thought that Hogwarts must have been modeled after the town so they were in heaven too. We highly recommend visiting the Synagogue, Orsini Palace, Vie Cave San Rocco and the Parque Archealogico and Vie Cave San Sebastian. The surrounding countryside is also very surprising after the dry hills of the rest of Tuscany - at times you might think you were in Hawaii or Costa Rica! Thank you Giovanni and Susanna - and for your delicious homemade marmalade too.
